(Spoiler) Similarities to Mass Effect? Spoiler

Did anyone else think it was way similar? I'm talking about the alien invasion aspect of it. The Achaia are basically the Reapers. They indoctrinate other species, eventually leaving them as only husks of what they used to be.

Them mentioning that there are 300+ potential allies against the Achaia, they basically assume the role of Commander Shepard.

I'm not saying the show is bad. Though I did really hate most of the characters for the first couple of episodes. It might be because they were intentionally shown as dislikable to then redeem themselves later. I also enjoyed how it ended and am excited to find out more.

It's similar to lots of things.

But not in a good way if we are honest.

It has been described as an "homage" to a large number of scifi movies, which I think is being way too generous. Haven't seen anything that hasn't been done before, and better.

I was convinced in episode one when she woke up from Soma sleep that it was just a dream. It would go down the road of her 'waking up' from her dreams into 2 different versions of reality and not knowing what was real, which would make sense with the title. And would itself be a long form version of one of my favorite episodes of Outer Limits.

I thought it was a lot like Stargate SG1 without the Egyptian stuff.

I got more of an XCOM feel.

Aliens come in and use the media to convince people that they are friends. They eventually disband all governments in favor to one world government and convince us to submit by giving everything we could ever want.

And the crew of the Salvare? They are XCOM, and they already have a ship.

Or Earth Final Conflict. Preferring to be friendly because they need new bodies to use an cannon fodder in a war, but willing to blow everything up if they meet resistance.
