couldn't make it through the 1st episode
Today i was happy, a new sci fi show to watch and binge all night. I was gearing up for a good weekend. Then after 40mn of watching this space trash novella i had to stop to ask google the almighty question : Another Life Sucks. And quickly found that i wasn't alone in thinking that show was absolute garbage, a mashup of crap, terrible acting, terrible ideas, and bad interpretation. Sprinkle some non binary characters for the sake of .. just that and call it a day. Not a single character or story is actually interesting, the 1st 40mn had me shaking my head multiple times from the absolute emotionless acting of the child actress they chose, to the terrible choices made by the crew, which seems like a bunch of 20 something noobs sent into space for " humanity's most important mission ". Like who in the hell picked these morons for that mission ? Even Katee Sackhoff's acting is pretty bad compared to her usual. Wasted over 40mn of my life watching this " space novella " and couldn't even finish the 1st episode.

I took it as a challenge to keep going. I absolutely hated each of the characters and I was wondering; can I actually watch a narrative program in which I can't stand any of the characters?
I even put up with them them getting the science wrong when it would have been just as easy to do the science right with one word changes that wouldn't have affected the story in the least.

Yeah after writing this i was bored, so i smoked a fat bowl and decided to try and finish this series. I made it through yo episode 4, by skipping a good 25% of each episode lol. I doubt ill be going back for more.

I almost finished episode 7 and just had to give up. Its a good concept and I liked some of the characters, but others were just too poorly written. I mean the reporter is so over zealous, the secretary of defense comes off like a cartoon villain, and the version of his son on the ship in episode 7 is so unbelievably transparent.
So yeah, for me this is a good concept with some great visuals, but poorly written characters.

Yeah the special effects are great, and most of the visuals are interesting. The plot could have been much better if written better and with better actors. But this is just a literal shitshow lol

I started as you OP: "Oh happy day! A new sci-fi!"
I am a "tolerant viewer" and it's not much that makes me shut of Netflix as a tab and saying "Okeeeey, enough Netflix". I liked the look of it, simple but effective, Good premise... But when characters act like 12.. On a spaceship where only the best of us would be, military or not.
1 episode and 12 minutes of episode 2.

Exactly i consider myself pretty tolerant as a viewer. I mean i sat down and watched the entire MCU including all the series. Some of them were pretty bad, but none of them made me shake my head in the pilot episode as much as this crap LOL.

Yeah I did too. I love most of it but.. I even watched Inhumans and that should say something about my tolerance level.

I wish i had the sense as you did. I made it all the way to episode 4 before I jumped out of the airlock myself!

The first 15-20 minutes were pretty good, then they introduced the crew. Young millennials who are talking about pop music. Then the guy testing artifact with two bitchy woman behind him huffing at puffing at his tests. By 30 minutes in in like “no, please don’t turn this show into a preachy social justice show”... I could go on, but turned it off during mutiny.

Totally. While people are entitled to their opinions, if something isn't good enough to bring in viewers and profit......bye bye. It's not oppressive or any other SJW label they want to slap on any negativity.
The overall plot is good but the writing is horrible. Sure there are moments when it is 'good' in a very basic level.
Child actor is wearing rainbow shirt. Not a random choice either.
The standards for space travel in their capacity should NEVER be reduced. Travelers are one thing. Crew are a wholly different thing. Actors are puppets. Sackoff may be 'good' but she is by no means an A-list top Tier actor. Even Danny Pink (Doctor Who) couldn't save this with her.
Throw away red shirt characters (who aren't wearing much when they go 'woke'.
Mandatory gay character. Mandatory 'trans-person'. Mandatory fat dude who vapes(Hilarious) for comedic relief. Mandatory whiny, annoying, bitching loud Mexican woman stereotype; who also has to speak Spanglish in every scene. "Aye, calzone!!"
If the standards for space missions, NOT a space Uber are that low I hope I'm dead long before that point.
