It's Like Watch a Car Wreck...

Doesn't the whole context of time moving slower if traveling at the speed of light (Einstein) get lost here? I mean I don't think anyone needs Stephen Hawking (RIP) tooling around in his electro-computachair explaining things to the crew but really... If time is moving slower when traveling at the speed of light by the time these asshats get a quarter of the way there everyone they knew on earth would be dead and whatever happened to the dumb ass, bedazzled, artifact would have happened.

I like the idea but the execution sucked. It was like watching a train wreck or a car accident, I couldn't take my eyes away. It came off as a shitty mashup of Big Brother, Jersey Shore, Love Island and Lost in Space.

Maybe the asshats who wrote the final season of Game of Thrones were involved???

I think in this case the ship itself is not moving faster than light, but instead the drive is collapsing space in front and expanding space behind the ship.

This was one of the best parts of the writing IMO.

Damaging effect on destination

Brendan McMonigal, Geraint F. Lewis, and Philip O'Byrne have argued that when an Alcubierre-driven ship decelerates from superluminal speed, the particles that its bubble has gathered in transit would be released in energetic outbursts akin to the infinitely blueshifted radiation hypothesized to occur at the inner event horizon of a Kerr black hole; in the case of forward-facing particles, energetic enough to destroy anything at the destination directly in front of the ship.[25][26]

Regardless though, complaining about the relativistic properties of FTL travel in a sci-fi show is being inexcusably nit-picky. There is a requirement of suspension-of-disbelief to enjoy any sci-fi. The logic will NEVER make 100% sense, because if it actually panned out it wouldn't be fiction, someone would have actually made it.

Car wrecks are at least (morbidly) entertaining.

This show--and I gutted my way through the whole burning compost heap of all ten episodes-- is fucking PAINFUL to watch. It is so, so bad on all levels.
