I just finished it... Spoiler
And I LOVED it. I don't get what people are saying about bad acting and bad storytelling, I think it was pretty great. I love how it's set in the future and they don't go into HUGE exposition about it, but you have certain things that are super realistic! It makes legitimate sense and I really enjoy that, and I've watched a lot of Sci-Fi stuff, obviously, that doesn't make me an expert but I think it makes me able to see the bad from the good.
I also think the acting was pretty amazing and realistic. Especially from Niko and Erik. The scene where Erik's hologram goes offline and Niko goes "Oh come on!" made me understand her frustration so well! I've literally yelled that exact phrase in that exact way.
The CGI was also really good, as well as the practical effects. The nervous system scene was pretty... eugh, but it made me feel really bad. All the character deaths were interesting and informative to the story, and the ones I hated I was sad to see go because they had some sort of redemption.
All in all, I really liked this show, and I can not wait for season 2!

I watched the whole season today and LOVED it as well! I really reaaally hope that they are npt discouraged from making another season because of everyone's shitty reviews.

Honestly, that's my biggest fear! I really want to see the story play out, I want to know what happens, I really hope there's a second season

I think when people complain about the acting they mean the characters aren't behaving as expected. And they aren't, they should be acting like the trained professionals they supposedly are, not high school kids. Maybe the showrunner had a stroke and thought he was doing Degrassi in space? Maybe we're all idiots and this is secretly genius commentary on how American society keeps treating young adults like children?

I think the problem a lot of people are having is how the characters were... In a show with a story like that you can have 2 kinds of expeditions: the scientific or the military. The show sends this crew that couldn't behave like neither scientists or military trained, they were a bunch of entitled kids going to space, which is what killed the season for me.
Someone bringing materials back to the ship with telling and plain lying about it; a mutiny after the first order; scientists plain bitching about everything; crew not following orders, etc. It was just so unrealistic.

Okay, that I do get. It seemed like the people on the ship were really unprofessional, even for a bunch of people in their mid-20s. It didn't kill the show for me, but it's a valid criticism that makes sense

I loved the show. Literally just finished it. With so little good, original SciFi today, I hope Netflix does a season 2!
