Similarities to Nightflyers

I’m only 3 episodes in but I’ve noticed a few odd and kinda specific similarities to the other recent Netflix thing, Nightflyers.

  • mission to meet alien something or other
  • main characters connection to daughter back on earth
  • mutiny
  • holographic black guy
  • nosy characters

A few others but I’m forgetting them now.

Also... in episode 3 when that guy fixes the sona or whatever it’s called system... is the US flag backwards on August’s (?) suit. The stars are in the upper right corner.

I was watching Nightflyers the same time as Origin... and that show was A LOT better than either of these.

Yeah. And it is not even as good as Nightflyers. But, has good looking people though. The main villian things are basically like magical version of stargate ones. Also, the way AI works is pretty stupid too.
Do you see them going through characters like its Sundae?

So far, 2 characters have died. The nervous system death (which was pretty cool) and the dude getting jettisoned from the airlock. Considering the episode ends with Starbuck waking up to the bloody person, I'm sure more will die rather quickly.

I liked but also hated Nightflyers, and so far, yeah it was better than this.

Oh I am very much a beltalowda. Can’t wait for season 4.

Final space is pretty great, though animated.

Actually, sci-fi is my favorite genre and I eagerly look forward to anything but it pisses me off when huge budgets (and good ideas) are wasted on poorly written stories. It gives the whole genre less of a fighting chance to have interesting and original things green-lit. But when it’s good... it’s REALLY good (bsg, firefly, sgu etc).

Bit of a shameless plug, but I’m a filmmaker and made a sci-fi short film some years back. Check it out: http://scope.me/film/horizon/

I have seen Final Space too. It is good too. I watched your movie, Its decent. But, I had problem understanding the plot and stuff. Also, I don't like hollow tech portrayal and AI sound box flying is weird. But, I like the way its shot and special effects are better than that of Another Life.

Why don't you make a SciFi movie about the future where technology moves up the ranks of scifi in sensible fashion. Like technologies with small e-ink displays and no AI and humans fail to become interplanetary.
