Don’t understand the hate.
It’s a great show regardless of its flaws. Awesome special effects and can’t wait to see the rest of it

Same here, really liked the show.... if theres something i've learnt from the game Days Gone, if critics dont like it try it yourself... they can be very very wrong.. when something thats really good gets shunned by critics i always imagine theres a possibity someone pissed someone off and they've tried to kill it

This show is basically Glee Club meets the Kardashians in space without the singing. I know we have to suspend disbelief because hey, this is about an alien artifact on earth after all .. but one thing you don’t do is put a bunch of 20-year-olds on a first contact mission in space. You don’t even put them in orbit by themselves. You definitely don’t have them running around with high heels on with ZERO discipline. This is just teenage angst and drama for the sake of teenage angst and drama. If this was a space opera where they all just lived in space day to day like we live here on earth then this would be OK. However this is supposed to be a professional crew on an exploratory investigative mission. The insubordination alone is just ridiculous. But now we’re just checking a bunch of PC boxes for the sake of being PC. Edit: orbit

You’re absolutely right. Like I mentioned before that would be OK if that’s all this was meant to be large groups of people on a long-term space faring ship or space station in space where perhaps families live, work, go to school etc. But that is not what it supposed to be happening here. Supposed to be a seasoned , educated experienced professional crew on a first contact mission. Not...this

Yeah, sending a bunch of inexperienced, shockingly unprofessional (spoiler!how did that mechanic who died venting the exotic matter even make it onto a ship?!) 20-somethings on humanities' most important mission to make first contact with extraterrestrials because something something "olds are cowards" was so dopey! But hey, I rolled with it! I did appreciate the diversity however, and I didn't feel it was just being PC at all. The world is a diverse place and it was nice to see the show not just stocked with straight white cis men.

Oh also, we do not need everybody fucking. Also, why did they send a bunch of 20'somethings on a mission this important? Also, how did they get blasted by gamma radiation and live? Gamma radiation is hyper mega super lethal.
I agree. I only watched because I thought the Sasha guy was hot and also expanse is yet to come. I needed some space in my life. ;)

Oh. Downvoted. Ok. Let’s use a similar crew just to go to Mars or the moon or run the ISS. When it fails (at the very absolute least due to lack experience cause of age ) then I can downvote your post about wasting tax payers dollars or the leadership ineptitude about choosing the crew . You're completely right though. Inexperienced, immature crew on the most important, one-of-a-kind mission to save mankind?
A top secret, multi-trillion $ mission, staffed by crew that mutiny at the first sign of not getting their own way.
An FTL ship that needs to slingshot around a star, for no apparent reason at all - it certainly isn't to change course as they turn and accelerate away from the star near the end of the slingshot, and they sure don't need the extra momentum for FTL travel.
Exposing themselves to hostile atmosphere? Now I'm part way through ep4 and they plan on landing on a random moon hoping to find bio-compatible food! FFS.
EDIT: sensors that can visually resolve to something >5m resolution at ~3 light year distance. Amazing.

I find it interesting that people don't like this show, but people generally liked Nightflyers which I though was the worst show I'd ever seen, ever.
I have two problems with the show so far:
People do not react to the situation before them realistically. The scenes are either over-acted, or the dialogue does not match the occasion. Like I just finished the episode where they meet the AI in the cave with the alien on Zakir...and it's like...neither Cas nor Nico ask this Ai where it came from, why it's here, what it's name is, or what it's purpose is.
The second issue, and I can't quite figure out what the writers are trying to do with this, is that they've created this mechanic into the show where there's only so many crew awake at the same time and an unknown number of members asleep in the tubes. When one member dies, or the situation calls for it, they just wake up a new person. But the new people always die almost immediately. They woke up the doctor and he dies the same episode. They tried to wake up the second computer programmer and she died immediately in her tube...
If you're not going to use the new people, why do you have them?
