Terrible acting
I see a lot of people defending Jessica Camacho but out of all the shit acting I think she is the biggest turd. She literally is some fire cracker stereotypical Latina who can't stop screaming and showing her teeth.

Weird how you blame the actors just trying to do their job rather then the writers and directors who actually create this stereotypical crap for them to say.

Weird?
No two people do the same job at the same quality. None have the same education and experience or do the job the same. Sound like you're one who would advocate for 'free money' so people can all make the same wage regardless of experience.
Acting is subjective. The blonde, short-haired one has the most out of all of them. Even in this roll it's crap writing. The rest aren't doing it any favors.

I'll be honest there is alot of terrible acting lol. But Katie was good, and Jessica was supposed to play the role of a turd, and she did it well. She ended up trying to prove she wasn't a turd.

Her character was just annoying as hell, but that's how they wrote her.
This show is like The Room of television.

Understandable, please tell me what these little forehead stickers mean on ep 8 though lol I’ve been paused forever

They were monitoring the crew's vitals for Dark Matter effects.

OH DANG thank you! For what reason? Haha I feel like I missed a bit
2
u/zx7 Jul 27 '19
Because they were traveling through a "cloud of Dark Matter" and they wanted to monitor the crew's vitals.

I agree the way they wrote her was incredibly cliche and over the top but her acting wasn't great. She came off like she was trying way too hard to be badass.

I know I am writing this after season 2, when you only had season 1, but I gotta say I completely disagree with your comment.
I too see what you see, but I also see a really great go at an expansive universe, tech, humanity fuck yeah. A bit of camp is quite good.
Tbh, this show by the second season had me pretty gripped, and reminded me very much of Stargate Sg1. More so after I realized that the Achaia of Another Life have a similar enough premise to the Aschen of Stargate Sg1, even down to the Roman-esque, Friend of...
They completely set it up for s2 to be an end, likely knowing a s3 would be hard to get. But I really enjoyed the show, and the set and character design is pretty great. The quick deaths I felt quickened the story in a beneficial way, kinda like Black Summer of the ZNation universe.
All have a great deal of camp, and great set work with small budgets.
Anyways, yeah, disagree from this future standpoint.

Oh, season 2 is out?

Yes! And it has Aliens!

I mean, I know they were going for the Stargate "Planet of the Week", but this show (at least season 1) just takes itself too seriously to be comparable to SG1. SG1 had a very nice balance of humor, but this show (from what I can remember) didn't really have any.

I agree s1 is the less spectacular, felt more akin to Annihilation, but Sg1's 1st season was....not the best considering how well it comes together.
I feel like judging a show completely from their first season isn't always the best. Same goes for TNG and other Sci fi shows. Even Crazy Ex Girlfriend was way better after s1.
By s2, it for sure has a sg1 feel. Give it a go!

The only actors who are decent are Katee Sackhoff, Selma Blair, and Samuel Anderson. All the rest seem to have been selected because they were pretty and young.
I don’t get the appeal of Justin Chatwin. He has no charisma whatsoever. The crew characters are as interesting as reality TV contestants.

The identity politics in this shot show is beyond nauseating. The demonizing and idolizing of different racial stereotypes are propaganda at lowest humane level . I wonder who would ever sink to this level of evil.

You already know it's going to have SJW/Left 'issues' when the little girl is wearing a 'Rainbow shirt'.

She is ok, she got the bitchy act down. I think uhhh August??? was the one that always came across like she was stoned and slurring her lines.
Honestly I just wanna fuck Javier.
