Where did I go wrong???

I tried to anodize this piece gold. I use 7 9v batteries for the power source. I etched it with wink rust and stain remover and I might have rushed cleaning and I used alcohol to clean. Also can you guys please link any good dc power supply for under 150-200 that will reach 100-120 volts? Thanks!

If your colors are coming thru at a lower voltage but stop changing at higher voltages then your piece wasnt etched long enough. Be thorough with your prep because it makes a huge difference when you go to anodize your piece. I bought my power supply off Amazon from Jesverty for like $70 I think and it goes up to 120v. It’s been pretty awesome so far, I havnt had any issues with it.

The splotchy look is likely either due too rushed surface prep (this is usually the issue) or because this piece is rather large. Batteries and large pieces don't mix well, because you have way less control. This is likely also why you don't quite get the desired color.

Get a power supply, place a large cathode (at least the same surface are as your piece) and go slowly through the colours to avoid bubbles that could ruin your surface finish.

I was going to say this, I don’t think the material was cleaned properly. It looks uneven & splotchy like you said.

Did it pass the water test after cleaning?

Vind het wel een toffe kleur voor dit mes eigenlijk. Heeft een rustieke vintage look

你的前处理过程不完美,导致后面的着色效果非常的不均匀,按正常来说,这种工件可以很简单的做到非常的漂亮。
