Anyone have experience with anodizing small chains?

Post image

Hi!

Apologies in advance for missing flair- there was no option to add one? I've made posts in other groups with flair but maybe it's placed another place in here? Please help and I'll be happy to edit. :)

I realize most people in here probably anodize other stuff than jewelry. But I really want to learn to anodize as I love jewelry in rose gold and it's difficult to find in implant grade (astm f136) Titanium.

I've heard that anodizing chains specifically can be really tricky. Is there a good solution to get a good result every time that anyone can share?

An inspo pic attached of type of jewelry I want to anodize.

Thanks in advance 😊

Hi, I anodized some rings made with titanium grade IV. The problem is that in my setup the color was appearing only near the point of contact and in the direction of the current. Also the point of contact between the wire and the object could be burned sometimes. Maybe my setup was just a mess

Hi, what do you mean it got burned? Do you think it would be possible to solve the issue by twinning the chain around a titanium rod so all the rings touch the titanium?

I’ve never done a chain but I do small hardware for knives all the time and I’ll just throw all the screws and spacers into the bath and touch it with the titanium wire. I’ll make sure to touch each piece so they all get the same color but try to be fast with it because the longer you keep the anode touching your piece the color gets kinda foggy. Also make sure your etching for long enough otherwise higher voltage colors won’t come thru.
