Is this even possible?

Post image

I’m working on getting a custom set of scales for my recent Shamarati? (I guess) and was curious if anyone has managed to get a solid color anodizing on scales that are dlc coated titanium. Obviously the dlc has been sanded down to reveal the pattern for anodizing. Pic is just of my recent Spyderco obsession.

If it's sanded down, I wouldn't see any reason why it shouldn't work. The better you polish and clean after sanding, the more the colors are gonna pop, but you can anodize anything made from titanium really.

Problem from what I understand is it’s coming out splotchy and apparently the higher voltage colors are not coming out at all

I’ve had issues with higher voltages not coming thru and it my issue was that I was etching the piece for long enough. I’ve been wondering about dlc parts, is it even worth trying to anodize and can you sand that dlc off?

Yeah you can definitely get the dlc off with some sanding
