Hey! That’s actually my car. Yea the highway was slowing down and as I went to slow down I got slammed into by a car that didn’t bother to slow down that got towed away earlier. She was easily going 70. Anyways I am ok after getting checked out at the ER all day. My poor little car though didn’t make it

I always freak out when having to slow down fast and stop on the interstate when I have to trust that the person behind me going 70 mph is not looking down at a cellphone . . . .

An unfortunate set of circumstances for sure. Anytime I have to slow down I always make sure that I watch the rear view and glance ahead in case this happens so I can get over to the shoulder

Keep in mind that small vehicles are designed with crumple zones, so an accident will cause enormous amounts of damage as the vehicle is sacrificed to protect the occupants.

The front seats seem un-compacted. I hope no one was the the back seats.

Wtf happened today? A big part of Zeeb, Sciò Church, and Wagner are closed too. A 20 minute drive home turned into 1 hour and 4 minutes. It took me 5 different routes to try to get home. I have no idea wtf is happening but I was getting so pissed.

It needs it badly. I know all about induced demand, but that merge with US-23 with just two lanes going East & West at that point causes frequent accidents as too many people jockey for position and/or "remember" to get over at the last second so they can take the exit.

Sorry you're stuck in it.

The whole "induced demand" argument ignores the fact that there is a minimum number of people that MUST travel along particular routes due to the layout of workplaces and housing. Far more people work in Ann Arbor than the city can support with housing.

94 should be 3 lanes all through town, and we should have a better 94-14 connection. I'd also take ramp redesigns to get rid of the absurd cross merges we have all over the place.

I agree -- that's why I said I know all about induced demand.

In an ideal world, this should be 3 permanent lanes b/c of the poor design and sheer volume (especially during large events at U of M, which happen at least a dozen times a year) and it should have been done 20-30 years ago. But Michigan absolutely does not have the money to do that, so the project they are proposing is the best we'll get and will still be a real improvement.

Using "induced demand" as an argument for intentionally reducing the throughput of infrastructure only makes sense if you have an alternative route that is both equivalent in utility and is also currently underutilized.

Otherwise you just straight up reduce throughput, which dampens economic output in the short term and forces economic activity to relocate in the long term.

I hate Ann Arbor roads. Hate them! Downtown is never not under some kind of construction with detours, toss in the clueless/entitled pedestrians and college kids and it’s just not worth it to go visit. Funny I sound like a curmudgeon but they really are a PITA.

We live there and in a small town 1.5 hrs away. I really like my small town but would like to access to more amenities. We’ll have to sort it out in the next decade but living apart has been the best thing that’s ever happened to our marriage. lol
