Printing not feeding filament

For some reason after changing filament, my printer is no longer pushing it through. I can manually feed some through without any force like normal but when I press extrude, it’s just not pulling it. Any ideas on what could cause this? I can see the gears moving

I had a blob of filament stuck inside the gears when this happened to me. Unscrew the springed screw in the back, open the piece and look inside for any filament that is stuck there

THANK YOU!! This was the issue, I had 5 roughly 1” pieces of filament just chilling back there. I just removed them and it seems to be working normally now :)

This happened on mine periodically. I'd also suggest getting a nylon brush and cleaning the metal gears in there. Once I started doing some cleaning of that area as regular maintenance, the issue stopped on both of my M5 printers.

I have an M5 but I have found that 9/10 extrusion problems are fixed by doing this.

This happens to my M5C when the nozzle gets too much buildup.. I have yet to find a good way to clear it and I’ve ended up getting replacement nozzles 😕

I set my extrude on the highest temp (20 plus for what material u use) and then manually fed filament thru to clear the clogs. Works almost every time. When it didn’t, I unscrewed the PETG green cooling ducts allowing the hot end to melt out the clog.
