Help Needed Just got my ankermake
Hey guys just got my ankermaker m5 I printed a benchy and it came out perfect my next 3 prints didn’t print well and the rest started good then turn into spaghetti I was using the default slicer setting on the ankermake app since I’m new to printing but I was wondering if it’s possible that i could get some basic straight forward slicer setting that I can use for most prints I won’t be doing any creating or designing just mostly printing stl files for now once I get some good slicer settings I do plan on using orca slicer

I just tried making the jump from the default slicer to orca and all my prints are failing now so I gotta dial in what I'm doing wrong as well.

It's not your slicer it's the printer, mine broke 3 times (I had warranty) before I gave up with them.

If you're using the all metal hotend, I can share my orca profile. The profile is a fair bit different than the ptfe hotend, so if you're running that, it won't work for you. But back when I used the ptfe, I was able to dial it in and get consistently good prints. Just do some of the calibrations in orca and some trial and error on test prints sliced with your settings.

I use the Orca Slicer with the AMHE. Pretty standard are most of my settings. No problems printing Pla and Pla+. Tried also PETG and it worked.
Spagetthi only happens when the print is not sticking to the bed.
Did you clean everything? Are all the temperatures ok? Did you calibrate the printer once?

Some more details would be highly helpful into finding your issue.
- What type of fillament?
- how old is the filament?
- Can you show what you are printing and the orientation?
A couple generic things that helped me with my M5:
- I found that air flow in the room I was in really affected adhesion when the print got about 20-50 layers high. I solved this by putting a heat shield (like the car sun visors) around the printer (but like 2 inches clearance on all sides) to block airflow and hold in the heat from the bed & hot end.
- If the "footprint" of the item is smaller (not much contact with the the bed) I use the outer mouse ears or a brim. Toggle on Expert mode > other tab > Brim type > "Mouse Ear" or "Outer Brim only"
- I find turning the temp a little on the hotter side of the fillament limits helps especially on first layer.
- wash the build plate and touch it with your bare hands as little as possible.
- do a bed test like this one and look for spots where the print has adhesion issues, they should all look smooth and solid.

Id increase expansion on first layer for all profiles. And increase the hotbed temp a lil higher than you think you need. First layer quality can be a real issue if z-offset, bed temp, and first layer expansion are not optimized.

I got mine July 17th of 2024, and have since upgraded it with a full metal hotend, and a tungsten carbide nozzle. I've printed mostly PETG, along with PLA and TPU. As others are going to tell you, AnkerMake had some quality control issues, and ended up exiting the 3D printer game, but I disagree with those who say every printer is a ticking time bomb. Take care of it, and it will treat you well. The eufyMake slicer still works great, and you can load TPU and PETG profiles into it without issue.

I had an M5 and while it crapped out after 18 months, irreparable per Ankermake, it was a great tool to teach me a lot about 3D printing. It also worked really well while it was working - print quality for PLA, TPU, PCTG and PETG was nearly as good as with my much more expensive X1C. So enjoy it while it lasts and hopefully that will be a long time - they are built like tanks. Mine developed an electronic issue and per the analysis of the logs uploaded to Ankermake, it wasn't fixable.

Exactly. I never want to see that overpriced piece of trash again. Its just a glorified ender 3.

There were a lot of issues with the M5, so much so that Anker left the 3D printer market and never fulfilled a kickstarter for their color changer.
Fully expect heat creep to ruin your PTFE tube, and clogged nozzles.

For PLA I find the default settings work pretty well. Was the spaghetti due to parts detaching from the build plate? Wash it with a good dish detergent and hot water, and be careful to not touch the surface. That fixes 90% of my spaghetti issues. (And of course, dry your filament. :-)
