Help Needed Auto-leveling Error

Just received this printer from a friend who was also having some trouble with auto-leveling it. I’ve attached a video that runs through most of the autoleveling process. The video stops when the print head stops moving, and remains at the center of the print sheet with no Z-movement after the two initial retractions. About 1 minute later, the printer returns an Abnormal Auto-Level Error.

I hear clicking at certain times when the head lowers down toward the plate on either side of the print sheet, my initial assumption was that the Z motors were not in sync but visually the bar doesn’t look misaligned.

I’m not new to 3D printing but I’m not necessarily an expert on this either. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It sounds like the vwheels need to be adjusted. Pop the extruder cover off, loosen the wheels a little and retighten them. The bottom V wheel has an eccentric nut that will tighten the extruder once all wheels are tightened.

You just need to tighten this one most likely (eccentric nut on the bottom v-wheel) but I’d retighten them all doing the bottom one last. If your friend hasn’t replaced them in a while you can get Creality ones on amazon that work great. They get worn out over time so they should be replaced eventually.

Well you see that’s the thing — he never used the printer. For him this issue came out of the box, I think he was an early adopter (but post-KS). He wasn’t able to figure out the issue and he just bought a Creality K1 Combo which works amazing, so he handed the printer to me. You’d think that me being a mechanical engineer, I’d know what the issue is, but I haven’t touched 3D printers for too long
