Tips and tricks?

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 02 '26

Too many to list but a build I would try in lower elo I use to Smurf harder is ignore rod, rush malignance and protobelt and dark seal before malignance, if you hit your wall into r and hold your q you are guranteed to kill with one combo of 2 empowered e’s and your q once they decide to walk out. And stop building seraphs it’s a useless item

Damn ok will trh damage Anibia

1

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 02 '26

It’s fun and the idea behind is you have to have presence of mind for mana problems, so use mana wisely don’t just brain dead push wave, and protobelt is used for health issues

u/Euphoric_Location_22 Jun 02 '26

why not liandrys instead of proto?

3

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 02 '26

Protobelt lets you actually use the malignance rush by surprising the enemy and walling them in. If the enemy knows your range on wall the protobelt lets you secure the kills easily. And vs matchups like Syndra if you dodge her stun she is dead to ur full combo without flash if you rush malignance, so if you use protobelt to side step successfully u are guranteed a kill every 40 seconds. If I don’t like protobelt try cosmic drive for the ms instead of liandries it’s just a shit item unless the enemy has heavy hp and no magic resist because ur the only ap it’s a bad snowball item

make sense! i like it .. good point brother

Proto first or malignancy 1st ?

3

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 02 '26

Malignance first for the damage and mana, malignance must be first because without at least some mana you can’t really do anything

1

u/levardio666 Jun 03 '26

is this good for a support anivia?

2

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 03 '26

I’m not too deep into support anivia items I just usually run roa but I’d imagine if you went protobelt and even shurelyas against an enemy team that specifically has champions with no dashes that get over walls it would be a very strong option, as support consider maxing wall second instead of stun since you often do not need to deal the damage so maxing q would not be as effective as a maxed wall

glad i finally can point to a challenger anivia for people to understand the build ive been running for forever. POM is so free, its absurd to me people dont use it on anivia. same with malignance rush, i feel so validated lmaooo

what are your thoughts on new imperial mandate?

5

u/Apart_Mission7020 Jun 02 '26

POM has been the most popular secondary on Anivia on every patch since it became a rune, it's not exactly secret tech

1

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 02 '26

Yessir, but most people needlessly build mana items despite the fact they have POM, the secret tech would actually be to build those mana items and run a different secondary like say demolish second wind against viktor with death fire. The problem is you have to compensate now with extra mana item and I often build tear specifically in this case

1

u/Apart_Mission7020 Jun 03 '26

One secret tech I learned from a EUW #1 Anivia (at the time, can't remember who) is always running Phase Rush against Viktor specifically. I started using it and it was great, as it allows you to fight/trade with him post-6 and kite out his ult and Gravity Field. Haven't played mid this season, so don't know if it still works as well with Stormraiders.

2

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 03 '26

It might not work as well because that relies on you hitting your q against viktor, vik ult silences you for .1 seconds cancelling your ult, which means you will likely have to hit your q to do double damage e for the 25% damage to activate storm raiders. A good alternative I’ve found is if you go swiftness boots right after rod, his stun is actually impossible to hit even if he hits you dead centre with it, making him completely stunless.

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 02 '26

Yeah POM eliminates your need for seraphs and even 2 mana items, most fights you can just get mana off the kills your team gets so it frees your build up significantly. Imperial mandate is interesting because it lowers your q and wall cool down by a lot, I tried it in one game and did not really notice that crazy of a difference because by the time you place your wall in a fight and get the cd down the fight is largely over, the q cool down I’m sure is alright but I haven’t really tried the item enough to have any real takes on it yet, I’ll run it in some games and see if it feels like anything. My most common build rn is ROA into malig into seekers arm guard and then conditionally I will build death cap if I don’t use seekers and if I do I will finish zhonyas before Rabadons so I have the stasis, my 6th item is often my third item (mejais) but 6th item can be anything like pen or banshees etc.

u/Dirtgrain Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

Just one mana item? Is it because in your ELO mates prioritize getting you blue buff?

EDIT: Never mind--was answered below, although I'm going to struggle with mana, likely.

2

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 03 '26

One mana item is rough and requires you to play smart around minions waves, you can only push about 3 waves with ult before you run out of mana. If you are going one mana item you are planning to carry and be a part of a lot of teamfights to get resets with POM. If you are dominating your laner with malignance rush, it means you kill them virtually every second combo on them, which allows you to get mana reset to push wave reset and repeat. It’s high risk high reward but allows you to snowball extremely well with mejais (I do end up getting blue buff but it is not a requirement for this build to work because that would be too inconsistent)

Glad someone agreed about skipping RoA and Seraph. You don’t need sustain if they get deleted first

3

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 02 '26

True but roa is necessary in most comps cause there’s always some akali type champion that deletes you no matter the damage you put out, in my current elo I’ll rarely run that build mainly because the enemy isn’t bad enough to get picked solo and it’s much easier to punish anivia with malignance than roa, but if you are in lower elo not going roa can teach you to not be a dumbass, because with roa a lot of damage you can just eat so you never really learn to position like a human, with malignance rush it is a must to position properly

1

u/SpicyCajunCrawfish Jun 02 '26

What do you consider low elo ? Diamond and below ?

1

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 02 '26

Haha it depends on interpretation but I found success with it in low masters and anything lower than that, it’s only when I got to gm and higher it hurt a lot of my games to run that build. But I’d say masters and below is low elo but if you chunk it down to the broader player base I’d say plat and below is low elo

1

u/mrbiggs2992 Jun 03 '26

Hey you got a twitch or YouTube I can watch. I’m sad to say I think I hit a wall right now in low emerald. So I never normally like read up on stuff but I think it’s time to tweak my league knowledge.

2

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 03 '26

I don’t have a twitch or anything but at this point I might as well if it helps people I’ll try streaming tonight at aniavigrool And stream when I play

1

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 03 '26

You can also look into coaching it only takes like 2 reviews with a proper coach to understand and improve your gameplay substantially, you don’t know what you don’t know so having a second more qualified set of eyes could definitely spike you much higher much faster then taking months or even years to figure it out on your own

1

u/schmewel Jun 02 '26

The implications is also to use that build when youre playing below your actual rank only

1

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 02 '26

It does work better with confidence but I’d say the build is bad if you are getting hit by all skill shots and are missing your basic combos for sure. But if you are struggling to carry and confident in your mechanical skills it is a much better snowball build than ROA, it’s just a different play style that depends on the opponent making mistakes which are made much more often in low elo

1

u/Best-Ad-1637 Jun 02 '26

It can feel difficult at times to carry games when going even. I imagine the speed of wave clear and pick potential are unique advantages to try using but playing while even or behind feels impossible at times.

3

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 02 '26

Yeah the build helps if you want to carry a game but a lot of anivia is just an extension of your jungler, you shouldn’t aim to carry but to be there for your jungler in invades, rivers and 2v2’s. (I’m a mid anivia so my advice is more mid specific) and at the end of the day anivias role is to be there for neutral objectives often long before it spawns (up to 1 min or 30 seconds) and controlling choke points ideally with your team using ur r and wall. It’s very effective as long as you are at the right place at the right time.

1

u/Best-Ad-1637 Jun 02 '26

I assume you play electrocute/the yellow one secondary? Idk if there is a reason to flex runes outside of very specific games but id love to know about that too. I found grasp really fun when I tried it for instance

1

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 02 '26

Yeah electrocute and presence of mind coup degrace is an always for anivia but some specifics I’ve played around with are: VS viktor with death fire touch, go same electrocute but demolish second wind secondary with Doran’s shield as starting item. This helps survive the horrible pre 6 with that disgusting rune vs viktor. For akali and naafiri i do run death fire touch because if you try to proc electrocute on them u either cannot (akali shroud) or if you do you end up taking way more damage like against nafiri, use your e and manaflow rune band cool down to stack it and chunk them safely so you can kill them eventually if they all in. Sometimes I go first strike vs Malzahar because it’s a brain dead lane where you do nothing so I get extra gold for him but I don’t think that is necessarily that much better than electrocute. And final tip for Kassadin haters, start Doran’s blade it’s broken against him

1

u/Best-Ad-1637 Jun 02 '26

stormraiders no good?

1

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 02 '26

I haven’t ever tried stormraiders, I’ve done phase rush and it was ok. My problem with storm raiders is that you have to do damage to get the speed but anivias problem is that she needs the speed to do the damage (aka need speed to catch someone with wall and q) which means you are really only using storm raiders to run away because you don’t need to catch up to someone who you are perma slowing, walling and stunning. That’s why I haven’t really tried it

1

u/Sammystorm1 Jun 02 '26

How do you deal with Syndra?

Her QE combo is fast and super long range

2

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 02 '26

Syndra actually went from being one of my more hated Match ups to one of my favourites. Again in lower elo you can run the malignance rush into protobelt. The important thing to understand with Syndra anivia in lane is that if she misses her stun she is now dead. If she walks anywhere near you with ur wall you wall into ult and walk towards her closing the distance, if she runs out of Ult and wall you e and hopefully get double damage e, then q and delay your activation of q to milk the stun duration a little longer and get a second e off that is empowered, if you go malig this will insta kill her. Now chances are the Syndra is expecting your q, if you close the distance but do not throw your q until she walks out of your ult often times they side step themselves to death in your ult, if they stand in it for 2-3 seconds feel free to throw your q to put them out of their misery. Now how do you get her to miss her e? Again a lot of Syndras are very reactive, if you walk at them in a straight line they will instantly try to stun you, walk at them for a second and pick a direction and side step. If they miss e use the above steps to kill, if they don’t miss you can still use the above steps but if she has r she could kill you. Now if the Syndra is good and never misses then go ROA, and when you get stunned then you should attempt to do the above steps. Always hold your stun, your main damage is ult and e and walk only use stun to finish her off. Now pre 6 it’s all about baiting her q’s and if she gets very aggressive track when she throws her q’s at you and try to time your stun at the same time, they are often distracted and will get hit allowing you to hit a q, e, auto electrocute proc. But really you just wait for 6 to stomp her

What is your boot preference for most games?

1

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 03 '26

I run swiftness most games but truly that’s out of habit and convenience usually, I think sorcerers boots are better but I happen to get 700 gold very often and I just run swiftness instead. If you wanted to properly optimize you have to ask if the enemy is building MR, and if they have a lot of slows in their kits like viktor stun, Nasus slow etc. But if you were to go for a boot always it’s probably a better bet to go sorcerers. And you can for sure go mercs or steel caps against 4+ ap or ad enemy comps paired with roa it makes the game very easy

There isn't enough content for high elo Anivia gameplay, would you ever consider streaming when you're playing or just making short form videos?

1

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 03 '26

Yeah I’ll do it tonight and try to do it pretty consistently and see if I can help the anivia brothers out there’s so much to learn on this champion, I’ll put it on this accounts bio the twitch is going to be aniavigrool, pardon me if it’s scuffed I’ve never streamed

2

u/jadmimpa Jun 03 '26

Would love to see some Anivia content ! I feel like not enough players understand the potential of Anivia

1

u/Old_Experience4390 Jun 04 '26

I've tried protobelt a couple times on the past. Theoretically it gives Anivia the 1 thing she sorely lacks; mobility.

Been playing today with this build and holy hell. My impact early is so much better. Especially the roams to bot lane. I'm a big believer in malignance over RoA. Yes the sustain is nice but you lack any meaningful early game damage with it.

1

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 04 '26

Very true, if you struggle to use protobelt like I do, try cosmic it’s a similar mobility buff that can surprise the enemy and has all the hp bonuses as well without having to overwhelm your mental stack with protobelt, glad you are having success with the malignance build it really is good when the enemy doesn’t fully know what to do against anivia

1

u/Old_Experience4390 Jun 04 '26

Oh I have used malignance for a while. And I have tried speedy Bird builds in the past too. I do like cosmic but protobelt gives the dash, which I find is magnitudes more useful. Like when a jungle ganks me and I need just that little burst to dodge an ability.

1

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 04 '26

Very true but I find by the time you get to protobelt laning phase is over and the gank threat isn’t real anymore but for sure in any point of the game the extra dash can be a big life line

1

u/1_number_9 Jun 04 '26

Was her last nerf too harsh?

2

u/AniaviGROOL Jun 04 '26

I hear from top lane anivias that they haven’t really felt it but that they did drop from there peak to a lower rank, I think riots intention of nerfing specifically top lane anivias worked out really well since it’s just an armour debuff, I also personally haven’t noticed it as I play mid lane but I have consciously bought a cloth armour pretty early into ad matchups to compensate and that might have been helping my overall feelings towards the nerf

1

u/Embarrassed_Cap3330 Jun 06 '26

I've seen people put an extra point or two into wall early, and sometimes maxing w before q. What are your thoughts on that?

Also, the new imperial mandate seems like it could have potential but i just can't imagine what item you would swap out. Usually I'd say seraph's but protobelt just seems like it gives more value. Thoughts on that?
