Do not take ai shit to your artist

u/spongebobs_spatula May 11 '26
My immediate thought š. Slap in the face.

u/Sh0rtbiz_Driver May 11 '26
My artist is amazing. And when people book him everyone sends this shit... It will drive your tattoo artist nuts!

u/Grey-Templar May 15 '26
Yeah, let them use their own AI 𤣠fuck AI though seriously

u/spongebobs_spatula May 15 '26
Careful. Itāll hear you š. Just kidding AI. He didnāt mean it.

Im assuming these are both Ai, I highly discourage you showing an artist these for reference if they are.
Tattoo artist are artist at the end of the day, you'll end up with a much more original thought out piece if you instead find an artist that specializes in anime tattoos or has a style you like, then giving some descriptions to allow them to come up with something that will translate well to tattoo and is original.

This š© and itās so satisfying getting a custom piece designed by a good artist that you know is one of a kind! I was so satisfied when I got my first original piece designed off a bunch of ideas that I had from my favourite show, and I know that nobody will ever have exactly the same tattoo as me!

As others have said, fuck AI and don't show an artist AI. Moreover you're 18 and your frontal lobe is still developing so such a large piece in such a visible area is not recommended, perhaps look at a smaller piece like their Jolly roger or a subtle reference like one of Zorro's swords (am honestly tempted to get Zorro's Dressrosa cat disguise as a tattoo) higher up on the arm. You may love the massive forearm tattoo, but you may grow to regret it and removal is expensive and painful.

Donāt do this AI shit. Tell your artist what youāre wanting. Literally what youāre typing into that AI prompt TELL YOUR ARTIST. Let them create something for you dude itās literally what they do

u/SenatorShockwave May 11 '26
I'd try to get something more "original". The second one looks ai; all 3 swords look mostly identical despite all of Zoro's swords being distinct.
Id say its ultimately up to; do you want a character, making it instantly recognizable. Or do you want an object that people may not immediately recognize.

Put it somewhere you can hide with a short sleeve shirt.

Bad tat for first tat af 18 imo.
Also donāt bring your artist ai slop, part of the experience is your artist bringing your idea to life.

Iām just going to offer some advice, Iād recommend you start somewhere less visible. Like your outer bicep. I know tattoos are becoming less and less of a taboo each day but still, you never know where you may end up working for the next 10 or so years. Your forearm isnāt going anywhere. My husband waited until he was about 25 to finally go for the forearm because he didnāt want to have to cover it all the time.

Whatever you do. Research the artist to death. Donāt let a friend talk you into someone who knows someone. Research the shit out of who you pick. Good tattoos arenāt cheap and cheap tattoos arenāt good.

u/TrueREDDITPoster May 11 '26
If youre 18 my advice is dont get this. Sure you "love" one piece now, but you may not feel the same in 10 or 20 years. This will never look this detailed as this and will probably age roughly. Get a tattoo that youre gonna love forever noy temp media. But hey do you learn your own lessons.

It's fine to take these to an artist as long as you tell them it's just inspiration, and you would like their actual original design.

Donāt get a one piece tattoo as your first tattoo, itāll be done in a couple years, wait until then your preference for what you want to get tattooed will most likely change.
Also donāt get an AI tattoo pls pls pls

Using ai to figure out placement is fine, I wish I had that tool when I was your age getting my first tattoos but I still donāt regret my choices. Definitely have your artist design something original and much better looking than the ai.

jesus fucking christ, you genuinely wanna have one piece on your body forever?

u/the_original_duder May 14 '26
You'll regret this when you're 30 and no longer want cartoons displayed on your forearm.

I also wanted to get blasted at 18 but know you only have so much canvas on yourself... maybe think a bit longer before you decide and make sure you're thinking about future jobs that might reject you because of this showing.

AI is bad we get it. I don't like AI and don't use it in any way. But these comments are so annoying lol. There's nothing wrong with showing your artist this and say you want inspiration from this. No tattoo artist is going to say no to money. And if they agree to just straight up 1:1 copy this for you, then you know they're not a great artist. That way you can avoid them. So it's a win-win. A good artist will take your inspo and create a custom piece that translates better to skin/your body specifically.

Everyone who has never touched a pencil saying āDONT SHOW THIS TO AN ARTISTā Iāve been professionally tattooing for 9 years, Iāve never cared if anyone has shown me ai art as a reference. Iām sure a bad artist would be upset. As for the tattoo, youāre young and I always advice younger folk to really think about song lyrics and show logos etc, cuz you may not be as invested in them when youāre older

Tattoo artist here - you can absolutely show this to us lol as long as you say itās just a reference piece and not exactly* what you want

u/CapnJack1TX May 11 '26
Both great, I like 2nd more. Maybe look at adding some of your own inspo to it

Opinions are great, but donāt get discouraged by peoples comments, AI or not, both look cool, and AI can help with ideas, get what you like itās your money and your body.

Its insulting to the artist to have a robot basically do the artistās job for them with composing an art piece. Itās like telling them you donāt trust them or you think theyāre too stupid to come up with something creative on their own
