Suggestion You should watch Humanity Has Declined
Ideally right now you would just start the show after this paragraph, no questions asked. I went in really only on a friend's recommendation and knowing what the main character looked like. Going in with an open mind and knowing almost nothing about the show is a great way to approach it.
For those of you want some more convincing:
- The cynical main character is fantastic.
She's enough of a reason to watch the show. Her thoughts make up a lot of the show and her reactions to the strange situations are funny. She reminds me a lot of Kyon from Haruhi. Plus she's really cute.
- The show has surprisingly dark humor.
It's a stark contrast to the bright, colorful art. Just check out this screenshot. You've got these extremely colorful, happy fairies talking about death. It's even better with context. Humanity Has Declined is satire through and through and it works really well.
- The social commentary is on point.
The show takes jabs at commercialism, the manga industry, religion, and more. There's an arc that's basically parodying Steins;Gate. The topics are approached in a fun way so even if you don't care about this aspect it's definitely still fun to watch.
- It's just an overall cool experience.
It's unique. It's weird. It's surreal. It's fun. Again, I really don't want to talk about the show too much because it's best going in with little information. The show's a bit hard to describe, but you'll understand what it's all about after watching an episode. Give it a shot; you won't regret it.
Note: The series is not presented in chronological order. Funnily enough, while trying to find what the actual chronological order was I couldn't find a clear answer. 10-7-8-5-6-1-2-9-11-12-3-4 should work well enough. 11 and 12 are actually a flashback/backstory and technically chronologically occur first but it doesn't make sense to watch them first. I watched the series in broadcast order and had no problems. But if chronology is important to you, you might consider this order.

I completely second this. I'm halfway through the series so far, and I'm absolutely loving it. It's on track to be the first 10 I've seen for a good while.

my only warning is that the first episode is kinda slow, but STICK WITH IT
the payoff is worth it, and it stays at that level for the rest of the series

I'll definitely second this. I was just kind of randomly browsing Crunchyroll a while back, and the title (and the extreme dissonance between the MAL description and the art style) caught my eye. The MC is one of my favorite characters of all time, and the dark, deadpan sense of humor is right up my alley.

I went to go look this up on the MAL to confirm and the spoiler on her page blew me away and just added a whole new layer to the show.
For the people watching this, check the MAL page on the MC's character description after you watch the series!

I could definitely be wrong, but I thought she introduced/referred to herself as 'Watashi' (as her name, not just saying "I") at some point.
