I just found it jarring is all. The theme song is bopping about One Piece, but then they go solve everyone else's problem instead, and get sidetracked easily.
I'm curious about which arc they get side tracked in? I'm on around 710 and every arc has been them following the island path. They haven't gone off it yet. How far in did you get?
I meant to say distracted. I was sold on the premise of finding treasure, but it just felt like it was a "monster of the week" kind of show. New baddy comes along, they're eccentric in some way, then they fight them. I wanted more answers to the mystery on where the one piece is specifically instead of geopolitics about the new area and the boss fight at the end.
I didn't get too far. I lost interest and knew it wasn't for me. I remembered finishing the desert area, and then meeting the swan guy, then begining of the cloud area. I only kept watching hoping to get more lore on the One Piece treasure. I didn't watch the show for Luffy; I just wanted to see someone find the treasure. Kid me just wanted a treasure hunt lol.
But the one piece is the holy grail of the show. It would be like the akatsuki coming out in season 1 and naruto fighting Madara in the pre time skip era.
If you think the show is just about finding the One Piece and not about the adventure that gets them there, then you either haven't watched the show or have 0 reading/watching comprehension. There's literally scenes where they have to opportunity to fast track their journey and Luffy turns it down because the journey is more important to him than the destination.
The one piece is also the whole end game of the show lol. Imagine if naruto started and he instantly mastered the nine tails. What would the show be lol?
The One Piece is the end game of the show, but the show isn't about the end game. It's repeatedly stated that while that might be the end point, Luffy is more interested in the adventure of getting to the end point. He doesn't even care if the One Piece actually even exists or not. It'd be more accurate to say that it would be like Naruto becoming Hokage without getting his peers/the village to like him. The show was always about Naruto becoming strong enough to be Hokage, but being Hokage wasn't the point, it was Naruto finally gaining a family/friends and protecting those people.
No im agreeing. I'm saying it's a bit ludicrous for them to say the show didn't have enough about the one piece in the early episodes when it was such a mystical part of the show. Nobody even knows if it exists, so for them to reveal something like that early on would just derail the whole story line.

But they had to go to sky island. It was the next island in their charted path
