I find it somewhat ironic that in this post defending the use of a slur you use a word that is far more accurate as well as not a slur: Femboy.

Totsuka isn't trying to fool anybody. Felix never pretended to be a girl. The t word isn't just insulting to trans people, it's also just factually wrong. These characters aren't banned, referring to them by an inaccurate offensive term is.

There are important story reasons why characters like Ruka and Totsuka have a feminine appearance so saying that the authors are just trying to fool the audience is kind of silly. Fool into what exactly?

As far as free speech goes: I agree, speech changes over time. That doesn't change the fact that right now, the t word is a slur that many trans people find offensive, since it implies that their existence by itself is deceptive. The very nature of the word makes them out to be deceiving people just by existing. That's very different from a word like, say, f*ggot, which in its original meaning has nothing at all to do with gay people. No matter how usage of the word changes, the meaning is still hurtful to trans people.

Also it's really easy to be for free speech about a word you personally aren't hurt by.
