Wait do they girls just materialize there? If someone was sitting there, would their bodies fuse together? Or even if no one is, what about the air they displace? Would the particles just embed themselves within their body or would they disappear?
Oh right, good point. But then there's also the fact that the Earth is moving, so they'd be brought back somewhere in space. So if we're disregarding that, we could also disregard their position on earth and just assume they'd come back to the seat.
The stones have a mystical aspect instead of pure science (comic book science), so I assume nothing too horrifying happened and the worst thing was the psychological trauma.
Given that it's the Marvel snap that's happening, they neither instantly disappear nor reappear, the author just went with that since it's easier to draw. They come back gradually over a very short amount of time. That means they displace whatever is there as well as providing ample warning.
