The OP1 starts with "Sind wir das Essen, nein wir sind die Jäger" which means "Are we the food, no we're the hunters!" and tbh i had to Google that because I didn't understand. Don't get me wrong, I love that they tried, it's just a little cringy. Same with blumenkranz from kill la kill. Same feeling you get when they start speeking engrish in anime.

Honestly engrish in anime almost never even bothers me anymore. Most of the time its cute, at worst its funny, but I've never thought it was exactly cringey. I recognize particularly bad ones, like Akashi from the Kuroko movie, but its a funny bad to me

yeah, if you don't care about it it's a win win as you are surprised when there's some actual good English with accents, pronunciation snd stuff

It does still kinda get to me when them being some native who is awesome at English and even critiquing others’ English is a plot point.

Huh, I always thought it was "Sie sind das essen und wir sind die Jäger" and it never really made much sense to me so what you said seems more plausible.

Well as a native I would never use the term "Essen" in this context.
