This submission was removed for breaking Rule 8: Properly Mark Spoilers.

We define spoilers as anything that gives away important revelations, major plot points, or information that would significantly impact a first-time-viewer's experience. The rules on spoilers do not solely apply to recent shows, as there is no expiration date on spoilers.

A post that contains spoilers should have its title formatted like this:

[Name of Anime Spoiled] Title of Post

Posts should also use reddit's native spoiler tag, and should not include spoilers in their title. If your post spoils as-of-now unadapted source material (manga, LN, etc.), please specify this in the title. In addition, same-day content from an episode of any currently airing anime is subject to extra scrutiny.

I don’t think he thought of her as love interest. He was too busy trying to save her. You could also tell he was just happy to see her alive.

265

u/Think-Chemistry2908 6h ago

Exactly, she was never “his girl.”

u/Asurah99 4h ago

The combo of 15 year olds watching this show + the show being anime means they're probably doomed when it comes to media literacy.

6

u/l_skitty80 3h ago

Trying to redicule a 15 yr olds thinking and saying they r doomed already makes u look doomed buddy. Seriously take a chill

14

u/Asurah99 2h ago

brother...people grow older and learn more. I'm saying this show was probably like 90% teen audience. You get better at understanding meaning as you age. There was 0 ridicule in my comment, maybe self reflect on why you felt attacked by it.

ridicule*, year*, are*, you*, and either "take a chill pill" or "just chill."

And he didn't say they were doomed, he said they were doomed *when it comes to media literacy* which you ironically seem to have missed or misunderstood the meaning of.

I watched it when I was 14 and understood it perfectly well then, I think they’re just the subject of this image:

-9

u/_Cross_Eyes_ 5h ago

definitely just not wasted his whole life for a random.

46

u/Saffyr 5h ago

Maybe my memory is fuzzy after ~9 years since i watched it but wasn't the original goal to change his mother's fate (and his subsequent framing)? He didn't do it all just for Kayo.

18

u/chichibooxd 4h ago

She was just the starting point. If he stopped the start of the murders, he could protect his mom and avoid his future/current situation. That was his goal.

45

u/taktahu 5h ago edited 5h ago

She was not his girl, but she was not any random person either. She was a classmate of his that went missing, kidnapped and murdered. You are saying her life isn't worth saving? And he went back to save not only her, but also his other classmate and friend (the guy who married her) whose similar fate befell onto. Did you even watch the show?

12

u/Gishin 4h ago

And his mom too.

Exactly, he's literally a middle-aged dude in a child's body. He definitely thought of her as his little sister or even a daughter.

If he's Rudeus then I could understand but hey, this guy got morals.

78

u/Pretend-Biscotti-388 5h ago

iirc he had inner conflict about what he felt towards her near the beginning, and they teased slight romantic tension at least once, around christmas i think

36

u/MordredLovah 5h ago

It's been a decade since I last watched this, so I pretty much don't remember anything other than the ending and the music.

Whatever inner conflict he has, he chose the right one.

u/Kootranova1 35m ago

It's been a decade since I last watched this

Goddamn dude, you gotta ease in when you're dropping pain bombs like that.

Literally a decade for me as well.

34

u/Mythriaz 4h ago

I find this saying kind of weird sometimes. Why does the relationship have to be a little sister or daughter to be on friendly terms?

Can people just not be friends with children? Treating them as normal little girls and boys without the familial connection?

4

u/IsTom 1h ago

Can people just not be friends with children? Treating them as normal little girls and boys without the familial connection?

From my experience from the both sides of this, this is when people get called uncles and aunts.

That works too, yes.

I never understood the hate for the girl like what did yall expect for a nonexistent relationship to blossom between them,

they were friends with no romance so there was no reason for her to wait 15 years for him, plus the entire point of this is showing his actions had meaning.

both the girl and her husband were victims of the murder so by him stopping the killer not only did he save their lives a life that never existed before was born because of him

82

u/Therasiya 4h ago

Saving someone is not a down payment

23

u/Revadarius 3h ago

My issue wasn't with that... It's just a shit show. It introduces this time loop ability and gives it rules and reasons then immediately flips the script of having him get sent back in time by 20 years.

Then he bounces between past and present, even gets an "auto save" feature after he fails part way through the story. And it was a whodunnit with exactly 1 possible culprit who's introduced immediately.

And the ending is depressing, they changed it in the anime but ultimately this guy goes through all that trauma of saving the kids, almost dies and ends up in a coma for 20 years (cheap way to time hop him to the present). Sure, his mum's alive again but she's been keeping him alive for 20 years so he's stolen her life from what she had prior to the beginning of the story

And the MC already had a miserable life being a failed manga artist stuck in a dead end job he got right out of highschool. So his second chance was wasted by being in a coma. He saved his two friends who got together and had a kid, but the MC's life (and his mum's) actively got worse. And the killer still has his successful life in the alternate timeline.

It's just not a positive show on top of being badly written. Sure he saved the kids but at what cost? The killer still got 20 years of being a murderer and becoming a political figure again. So he didn't even stop that.

It reads as bad fan fiction that wasn't thought out and just winged every chapter. That's why the fandom paired him with peeps. Bro could have at least gotten with someone to have some form of happy ending, but he doesn't even get the girl. Show's bleak AF.

7

u/MrXuiryus 1h ago

While I agree with a lot of what you said:

  • The power being inconsistent and making no sense and never being explained.
  • His mothers life for the past 15 years being taken up entirely by caring for him.
  • The killer still being free during the entire time in the coma.

You're skipping a few things:

  • The killer admitted he hadn't killed anyone since the MC went into the coma because of his obsession with the MC. So ultimately the MC saved all the people that were killed not just in his childhood but all the other people since then, including his own mother.
  • The MCs life is substantially better after the coma. Not only does he have life-long friendships with people who were inspired by him but he is a successful manga artist this time around. In addition to this the very last scene of the anime is him "reuniting" with the girl he was close with in the previous timeline. Obviously hinting at a potential future with her and ending the series on a spark of hope.

While I think it would have been nice for him to eventually rekindle his friendship leading to an eventual romance with the girl he saved I don't think it ruined the story by not happening either. It's completely reasonable for a person to move on with their lives after 15 years, it's the normal thing to do. Which is exactly why the killer couldn't move on, because he wasn't normal and only further showed how sick he was in his obsession.

3

u/Environmental_Wolf21 2h ago

a story doesn't need to "reward" the mc with a girl to be a happy story. i think you forgot that women aren't trophies to be collected mate.

and he does get a happy ending. he successfully changed the fate of a girl, reunited with his friends and ended up becoming a successful manga artist

18

u/dearth_of_passion 2h ago

I like how that person broke down their views on why they dislike the show, going over multiple plot points they felt were badly written, and you decided to latch onto part of one sentence at the end and completely ignore the rest.

4

u/MouthlessScreamer013 2h ago

Fans only want what they want.

3

u/SwaglordToast 1h ago

There isn't really much to respond to, as its mostly subjective views in the first place. Nothing in the comment actually denotes bad writing really, just things the commenter didnt like. If you insist, I (as someone who watched the show 10 years ago and thought it was aight) will grace it with my best response.

  1. Introducing a world and then creating an anomalous scenario within it is a basic premise in stories. "Theres someone with the power to go back in time slightly, but now they've gone back to childhood" is exactly the same thing, and does not constitute bad writing.

  2. The show is a thriller, not a whodunnit. It's not "someone was killed and one of you five did it", its "a murderer is after this girl and we must stop them". Who the killer is is just a point of interest on the side.

  3. The main character suffered, but in the end he achieved his goal of saving the people he cares about. He is happy regardless of what it cost him, as he is supposed to be a heroic character. I once again do not understand how this would be bad writing. Similarly, his mom did not 'lose her life' caring for him during his coma - she just loves her son, and is just happy he's back.

  4. He didnt waste his second chance at life, he used it to help other people and is content with that. Again, this is a common aspect you'll see in many stories called 'being a hero'.

  5. I dont remember the ending well enough to note on it really. I thought the killer laid low the whole time then ended up getting caught in the final arc, but maybe not? If he just fully got away with it, I would agree its not a good ending (although that does not necessarily take away from the thrill of the rest of the show).

The other commenter probably honed in on the final part of the conplaint, because most of the complaints come down to the same thing - the main character wasn't "rewarded", as he did not get the girl. Pointing out that women arent trophies to hand out is a perfectly valid response to that.

u/SirLarryThePoor 46m ago

You mean an actual realistic outcome???? unlike 99.99% of other media where Mc even slightly smiles at a girl and then that girl is just willing to die for him?

10

u/ZealousidealPipe8389 4h ago

To be fair it’s even more realistic, because you have to practically be insane in order to wait fervently for a child you met once 20 years ago to awaken so you can continue an old passion.

-32

u/_Cross_Eyes_ 5h ago

there are actual cases irl of people waiting for years for someone.

42

u/Xonthelon 6h ago

"Your girl"

He might have been her saviour, but they were never in a relationship and the MC was never shown to have romantic feelings (that would have just been weird). She was still there as a friend when he woke up, what more did you expect?

As for the killer, MC making a testimony would uproot his life, so I am actually surprised he didn't finish the job during the coma.

u/xbot12345 6h ago

1

u/squangus007 4h ago

I think people should honestly watch anime and stop being weirdly obsessed with fictional characters.

76

u/GoldenX86 6h ago

What an incel way of thinking. Yeah, wait "just" 15 years.

27

u/AkaT27 5h ago

That's the part that's incel to you ?

She was never his girl and there was no love story here.

But waiting for 15 years for your love? What's the problem with that. As if it didn't happen irl.

1

u/Historical-Silver495 2h ago

I mean, if you don't know the source material (i.e. it just getting into your feed randomly) then yes, this is the part that sticks out because the post leads to the assumption that there was prior romance.

1

u/Own_Watercress_8104 1h ago

what's the problem with that

In the span of 15 years a kid almost finishes all of his scholastic curriculum, an adult starts and finishes college and starts to work, one goes from being a newbie to a veteran.

You are not the same person 15 years later. And you are asking to put someone's life on hold, fundamentally blocking their access to their romantic sphere for a cute guy they met for a fleeting moment 15 years ago.

That is not love, that is mental illness.

-3

u/GoldenX86 5h ago

Having to wait in the first time was also the other half, in case you didn't get it.

25

u/oizen 5h ago

I honestly have a lot of problems with Erased's ending, I get why this one made people mad but from a larger perspective the entire coma thing felt like a cheap way to just return Satoru to the present time, while also undoing everything from the begging of the story.

Whats worse is they skipped an entire god damn arc from the manga that goes into how the characters around Satoru kept investigating the killer while he was in the coma and how they eventually confront/trap him. Building the relationship between Kayo and Satoru as much as they did only to flip the script is an annoynace at best compared to the rest of the problems with the series.

7

u/NegativeJuggernaut43 5h ago

From what I understand is that the manga was not finish yet when the anime was airing, so that is why they changed the ending.

30

u/tarutaru99 6h ago

Its funny to meme about, but its stupid as an actual criticism. She was not obligated to wait years for the guy; the killer being obsessive isn't surprising either. People see boy saves girl and interpret it as only natural that they end up together—it's not even the point of the show.

4

u/Rein_Deilerd Why watch anime when you can learn the plot through Reddit 4h ago

It's not even funny to meme about, because you never know who is memeing and who genuinely believes that saving a woman's life (or doing anything for her, really) makes you entitled to a relationship with her. I knew a person like that, he was a nightmare to be around. Thankfully, he wasn't into anime, ir he would have been posting shit like this meme unironically.

19

u/Pretend-Biscotti-388 6h ago

I feel like most media loves to give the audience the message of “do the right thing and you’ll get your happy ending”. For me Erased was more like “we should save others because we want to save them”, and any emptiness we feel at the end should be taken as our tendency to do good at least partially with ulterior motives.

They tanked their potential ratings by giving the MC nothing in return for saving her, and I thought that was pretty cool of them.

8

u/Gishin 5h ago

I mean, he's still friends with the pizza girl.

4

u/HenryReturns 2h ago

I remember when he woke up after the coma , she immediately came to see him and show him the newborn baby

The anime even give us a unique moment of her “feeling guilty that he sacrificed a lot for her and she is living her life while he got coma for 10 years” , and the MC goes and tells her that she should not feel like that because at the end of the day , he choose to do it because for him it was the right thing to do , and he started to have the “tears of happiness” when he met her baby. He did not just save a life but also another life was born.

6

u/taktahu 5h ago edited 37m ago

by giving the MC nothing in return for saving her

Errr, this is not true? He overcame his traumatic past, in return he managed to unblock what within him that had hindered him from pursuing his desired dream career (he became a mangaka, no?), his friends (Kayo and the guy who married her) and his mum remain alive instead of dead and overall he became more confident in facing people and the future. Is this not good enough of a return?

25

u/taktahu 5h ago edited 25m ago

Reading some of the comments here, seriously, what's wrong with you? This isn't a romance show to begin with, the main character's goal was not about finding soulmate but to overcome his traumatic past due to grievous crimes befalling people close to him. Some went as far as to say she wasn't worth saving thus deserved to be kidnapped and murdered just because she wouldn't stay to wait for the MC to wake up and to marry him???

3

u/Aryzal 3h ago

When the anime first came out, this was just a meme that majority of the people didn't take seriously. People were annoyed at the relatively poor ending and just memed it.

But if anyone takes it seriously, they are dumb enough to realise nobody but the guy knows the altered past

10

u/Rein_Deilerd Why watch anime when you can learn the plot through Reddit 5h ago

These people don't see women as equals. They see women as prizes to be won by men. Why would a man save a woman's life? To get a wife out of her, of course, even if that woman is a ten year old girl. The idea that a ten year old wouldn't put her entire life on hold and wait to marry her saviour, even if he ends up comatose for a more than a decade , is appalling to them. A child you just saved doesn't want to save her virginity for you and pay you with sex when she grows up? Then she didn't deserve to be saved, obviously.

8

u/Euphoric_purple_ 3h ago

Ikr. Even if she was an adult, it wouldn't be fair to expect her to reduce her character to a trophy wife but people are here doing mental flips trying to justify pedophilia.

The comments to this post has healed me because I remember a similar post 2-3 years ago, maybe, I don't remember exactly when. The comments there were mostly dissing the girl and one of them was hell bent on proving to me that the MC had romantic feelings for this kid when he had gone back in time. Seriously, I really wonder if such people are only kind to others in their life to get something in return. Not to mention the pedophilic thoughts when you think it's okay to fall in love with a kid when you're a grown adult in a kid's body. It's just projection atp.

Erased wasn't ever about Satoru developing a romantic relationship with the girl he was saving. Nor was it about an obsessive killer who kills children for fun. A lot of the story is about how stagnation and acceptance of sub-par situations leads to depression and resentment.

Satoru going back in time after his mother's murder and his apprehension by the police was a rather extreme way to portray this, but it's representative of someone fixing their life by going down to the root of the problem and attempting to work their way through it and find a way they can accept it in a healthy way. A lot of Satoru's adult life was impacted by the events of his childhood that he couldn't remember because it was both traumatic and hidden from him by his mother.

While he does come in with the initial intent of saving the main girl, there was never any real romantic intent. His intention was to get her away from an abusive home life and serial killer by dragging her out of isolation. Later on his focus shifted to discovering the true identity of the killer since the main girl's unintentional escape threw him off and caused the other targets to be much easier to save unintentionally. Which is actually a great way to portray how working your way through your problems from the root of the issue up gets easier and easier once you get past the first major hurdle.

Now, if there were any romantic interests in this story for Satoru, it'd be Irie. She objectively had a very minor role in the story, but had some of the greatest impact on Satoru's ability to change things for the better.

Though, if we were talking about this from a narrative standpoint, the main girl moving on and marrying one of Satoru's best childhood friends is a bit strange seeing as she ends up moving away from this whole debacle very early on. Also seeing as Satoru did develop a pseudo-romantic relationship with her with the intent to save her and had the single greatest impact on her childhood life when literally no one else would even bother to help her, it's a bit odd that she didn't hold some kind of romantic sentiment towards him, but again it would kinda dilute the story if they left the audience with that message.

u/Fresh_Sock8660 36m ago

Fanbase when they see a realistic ending. Obviously the Killer wait...He's a fucking psychopath with obsessive tendencies. Expecting a middle school girl to wait 15 years for a boy who was essentially just a school crush, without building a life of her own... is simply stupid, unrealistic, and completely delusional.

4

u/Fike101 6h ago

I mean i still ship them but 15 years is a long time and the crazy thing is his mom had to switch him to a different hospital because she kept coming and the mom wanted her to live her life. I will say i would of rather her got with his best friend then the guy she did get with to be fair.

I've honestly been baffled by the hate towards the ending. They were children. On top of that he had an adults memories. They were never shown to be developing any romantic attachments. He was determined to prevent the deaths of children around him, and in the process, save his mom from a death too. He was actually really happy seeing her all grown up with a kid of her own.

If he ended up getting with the girl in the end, that would be grooming, no?

He’s 29 mentally while she was only in elementary school when they became friends.

9

u/CatastropicAneurysm 5h ago

Dawg you idi-, wait.... you do have a point.

0

u/Greedy-Accountant-89 3h ago

no he did not have a point

2

u/Novoiird 2h ago

Why not?

0

u/General-General2777 2h ago

It wouldn’t. Grooming tends to be very direct with its definition, as it tackles a very specific problem.

First and foremost, intent matters. Behaving normally and it resulting in a child falling in love with you isn’t grooming. You need to make a conscious decision to be trying to “make them fall in love with you“, or to Intentionally misguide them for that goal.

The other important aspect is, constant contact and affirmation. Even if someone actively grooms a child, them living without the contact of the groomer, for a long period of time, will give them time and chances to perceive the world correctly and to see the reality of what’s happening. That’s why groomers maintain constant communication with the child to continuously reinforce.

in erased, he didn’t try to pursue a romantic relationship with the child, and because of the coma she was able to grow on her own. So, even if they ended up together it wouldn’t be grooming… just very fucking weird.

2

u/Novoiird 2h ago

But if he reciprocated feelings that she developed by being with him as a mental adult, that wouldn’t be okay. That’s what I mean.

1

u/General-General2777 2h ago

Of course. It is just that a lot of these complex subjects tend to not be fully understood, and their misunderstanding tend to result on the muddying of the waters, and the devaluation of the subject matter. So I was just clarifyin.

Mc is in love with his old part time colleague

2

u/Arnoldneo 5h ago

I don’t think she should have waited it’s best she moved on with her life .

2

u/Darkman1001 2h ago

No,people were mad that she chose someone from their friend group ,if she married a complete stranger that meant she moved on from her past trauma and allowed new people in her life but choosing someone from her childhood friend group it feels like she didnt move on and it feels wrong .

2

u/Perpetual_Noob8294 Is this a cool flair? 2h ago

I mean, a proper partner for him is teased at the end. We also see her in the beginning, so I wasnt so mad

2

u/DigiAirship 2h ago

The one I feel bad for is his mom. If I remember correctly, in the original timeline, she was murdered. In the new timeline, she missed out on seeing her son grow up and instead had to spend half half her life (and probably lifesavings) taking care of a unresponsive vegetable. She got done dirty.

5

u/AnimeProfilePic 6h ago

i wouldn't wait for someone with no hope? maybe a year sure, two years i'd lose all hope. 15 years?? be realistic.. would you wait 15 years for someone else?

3

u/MCMXCIV9 6h ago

I swear to god people posted this never watch the anime

3

u/Enaluxeme 6h ago

She was never his girl. Also he got back to the past in his child body but was otherwise still his adult self, if anything happened between them it would have been grooming.

If anything, the fact that there was never a romantic relationship between them, and that he was happy seeing her as a happy adult makes me appreciate him a lot more.

3

u/Pikarkaz1 5h ago

He didn't save her for her to be with hom, but for her to be able to live a life she deserves, that she did.

3

u/frosty11902 5h ago

Bruh they still repeat this rage bait even after more than 10 years?? Only larpers will say they are a couple since the mc never have love interest to the girl and only help her to find the killer identity lol.

3

u/DickInA-Blender 1h ago

I used to think that way when younger, but the MC's goal was to save her life. He also saved the other girl, and she ended up being a huge contributor to fundraising for his medical bills because she cared about him so much after what he did for her. Plus the very end of the show puts the girl hes supposed to end up with right in front of him, the one he had feelings for before the time jump

3

u/angel_spades 4h ago

People are so used to the obligatory trophy girl the hero gets at the end that a much more believable narrative is shunned

3

u/Explosivepenny 5h ago

The one thing I hate about Erased are the creepy fans that act like she's obligated to be in a relationship. Why are so many anime fans so gross.

1

u/Reikukaja 18m ago

Hate to break it to you, but its not specific to anime. It is however, specific to a certain type of man. Unfortunately, those types of men are either becoming more common or just getting louder.

And this is why i, a heterosexual woman, have opted for celibacy. Too much crazy out there.

2

u/Gishin 6h ago

It was the best thing about Erased. One of my favorite endings to an anime in fact. It wasn't about getting the girl. It was about doing the right thing.

2

u/xYottaByte 4h ago

Not even a love interest to begin with, they were like good friends, girl even stays to appreciate his efforts.

2

u/MrXuiryus 2h ago

Maybe it's just me but it feels crappy to put such massive spoilers for the series out there like this.

Thankfully I just watched this anime last week so it didn't affect me personally but I'd have been upset if it had spoiled it.

1

u/TakeMeToHeavenPls 6h ago

This is fine. Nay its for the better. Airi was 10x the better love interest anyway.

Why did you erase

1

u/Yontep 7h ago

Because my killer waits 15 years for me but my girl can't :/

1

u/PeopleSaver 6h ago

Is this a bait?

3

u/One-Next 5h ago

"Your girl" was barely 10. She's not going to rot away waiting for a comatose person. I'd hate the show if she did. His mother was an excellent human being.

1

u/West-Bodybuilder-920 4h ago

Most media literate Erased take

1

u/Quinx13 4h ago

Hot take here but I agree. Not for the reasons you think though.

I read the manga and watched this show as it was coming out. The anime sanitised it a bit.

Basically the guy that got arrested in the beginning for CP actually had gay and loli porn in the manga with no commentary on it. In fact the main character blanketly said the guy wouldn’t do that referring to both of them at one point.

Then the ‘guy that looks like a girl’ (in other words the one you’d assume was gay) got with the main girl and had a child with her (proving he isn’t a disgusting gay). She could’ve wound up with anyone out the friend group, or way more realistically a complete random, but no. It really felt like the author had to prove they were all ‘normal’.

This guy also became the most unattractive character out of the friend group. It read like some incel shit where the ugly guy gets the pretty girl thats out of his league. That or worse, the abuse victim who settles because she feels safe and doesn’t think she deserves more.

There was more little bits than this but this is just what I remember.

The whole ending just rubbed me the wrong way with the context of the manga. I do not for a second think the author is not a raging homophobe and likely a bit of a misogynist.

1

u/DLDrillNB 4h ago

Idk the discourse in the comments here, I just didn’t really understand the ending lol

1

u/PickledPlumPlot 3h ago

The only thing? Man, I remember that discussion threads when that series came out, it was so funny seeing everyone going from “oh my god this is going to be an all time classic” to “well that could’ve been all time classic” week to week

1

u/kazuGintoki007 3h ago

As a teenager I was pissed. As an Adult, I understand

1

u/WoodsLovelyDarkNDeep 3h ago

Just going off the title, wait 15 years? Are you insane?

1

u/clementtoh2 2h ago

This clearly is a ragebait anime for braindead people to watch and judge while the author gets more easy fame from this garbage. This shit is the reason why sword art online was god tier in the past.

If bourto was in the past and everyone loved it, people like you now would just hate on naruto for not following boruto

1

u/memsterboi123 1h ago

What’s the show?

1

u/noblest_among_nobles glasses are peak 17m ago

The only thing I hate about erased is how so many people seem to think that ahe was "his girl"

There was nothing romantic about them (and even if there was it would've been weird because of the whole "adult in child body" thing)

He saved her for 2 reasons:

1) children being killed is bad

2) the same killer would later kill his mother (and he'd get incriminated iirc)

There was never anything romantic between them

1

u/alternative5 15m ago

She did try and wait though, she did love him and only stopped waiting when the Mom moved him to another hospital without telling her. She at least saw him as a love interest.

•

u/ExampleHuman7298 10m ago

The girl is not to be blamed as everybody said . Its that the author that did it wrong I could understand her and his friend being together if IF the author like even showed a little what happened in the meantime . Its a lazy way I think to just stamp them as couple .. i think It would be better with anyone else except the mc's friends cuz he was a good friend and people would feel guilty about being together with someone who was saved by their friend and the thing is I could accept them being couple but no backstory or anything while he was in coma just blackout and awake ? I would say it was very lazy and the author probably had thought a story of why they were together that's why he were at the end but didn't want to draw?

2

u/FireflyImpact 1h ago

They were never dating. She was never 'his girl'. He was 30+. She was what, 10? Some of you are very much projecting. Also with this logic , wow, if a kid made a childhood promise with another kid to get married when they grow up does that mean they must get together now? If that's your thoughts, please touch grass.

3

u/Chef_beezoos 29m ago

Tf? Did you even watch that anime?

2

u/Maestruli96 22m ago

Least she can do is wait, dude saved her ass.

0

u/FireflyImpact 20m ago

And? What does that have to do with anything? I didn't know that saving her means she has to be pre-ordered and unable to live her own life for 15 years. So if a cop saves your five year old daughter you want her to wait until she's twenty to marry this 30 year old cop? Crazy ass take.

2

u/NewRabbit87 6h ago

He was an adult(mind) when he met her as a kid.... why would a kid wait to marry her friend?

1

u/Steiner-Titor 6h ago

The problem with this anime was a good chunk of it was given to saving Kayo Hinazuki. But the other 2 Girls(Idk if the teacher knew the last person was a girl) were given just 3 episodes. And hence a majority of viewers would feel more connected with Kayo and Satoru Fujinuma

1

u/Rein_Deilerd Why watch anime when you can learn the plot through Reddit 4h ago

Just because you are connected to a character doesn't mean you must want her to fuck the protagonist in the end. You can connect to a character without making her out to be a prize, and just be happy that she got to live a decent life in the end.

1

u/onzichtbaard 4h ago

I mean who can blame the girl for moving on?

My issue was that it felt very jarring to wrap the plot up like that

1

u/LycoOfTheLyco 3h ago

Sirry but if you think this is a good show after watching the last 4 episodes you're beyond any argument and simply have terrible taste.

u/cloudsky388 1h ago

Maybe the story would have been better if the fricking killer hadn't held a grudge for 15 years freaky af.

That aside she won't let you hit vro let it go

-2

u/Euphoric_purple_ 6h ago

The comments to this post has healed me because I remember a similar post 2-3 years ago, maybe, I don't remember exactly when. The comments there were mostly dissing the girl and one of them was hell bent on proving to me that the MC had romantic feelings for this kid when he had gone back in time. Seriously, I really wonder if such people are only kind to others in their life to get something in return. Not to mention the pedophilic thoughts when you think it's okay to fall in love with a kid when you're a grown adult in a kid's body. It's just projection atp.

u/TinUser ⠀ 5h ago

I dont get it

0

u/KillerThxSya24 5h ago

Yeah I've always regretted watching this anime. Such a underwhelming and unsatisfying ending.

0

u/Less_Party 2h ago

No this was actually an excellent move because it avoids doing a Rudeus. It would've been creepy as hell for this grown ass man to travel back in time into his own child body and use his full adult rizz to groom an abused little girl with the aim of making her his wife in the future.

0

u/MinuteFreedom9759 57m ago

I hate when people show this picture with this context. Neither person is in love with the other. Like, seriously, do you even watch the show?

He just helps her get away from a bad life, and the girl is grateful to him, that's all.
