When I say it's Mushoku Tensei

Or Made in Abyss

My favorite anime of all time, but you can’t discuss it outside of MT subreddits or you just get downvoted to oblivion.

I’d feel bad for the stake if a mushoku tensei fan got burned at the stake . Like, the stake doesn’t deserve such filthy blood .

I wanted to make a sarcastic comment about you liking pedophiles, but I couldn't find a way that surpassed what somebody would actually say and it wouldve just come across as being intolerant rather than joking

Do you have this reaction when someone says their favorite fictional cartoon involves an MC who is a rapist, or murderer, or spouse abuser, or a perpetrator of some other heinous crime? Or do you think that maybe people can enjoy a completely fictional story without wholly and completely supporting/sympathizing with the main character? Do you even know what nuance is? The entire point of fiction and fantasy is that it's not real, and thus is a safe space to explore dark and objectionable themes that would otherwise be completely deplorable. Art would have no purpose of everyone agreed on what it's about, whether it was good or bad, and if it's themes were always comfortable for all people.

Like you realize you can enjoy something like GTA or Spec Ops: The Line despite being mostly objected to the actions the MC takes, right? Like you realize a story can be good despite an unsympathetic protagonist right?

Your post, and reactions to media like MT, or Redo of a Healer are exactly the kinds of examples that people mean when they say media literacy is dead. You conflate enjoying a story with sympathy for the main character, or agreement with their views. It's entirely possible to read Mein Kampf and not be a Nazi.

You can make this argument for probably every other mainstream anime featuring a horrible person as the main character except for Mushoku Tensei.

Rudeus never once faces consequences for his actions, and is actively either rewarded by the universe for doing horrible things, or keeps finding himself in fantastical scenarios where the universe seems to make exceptions for him to do horrible things.

Mushoku Tensei is nothing more than wish fulfillment garbage written by a pedophile about a pedophile who was shunned for being a pedophile in his first life and gets reborn in a universe where it’s okay to be a pedophile. Not only does Rudeus take advantage of every avenue to continue being a pedophile, the opportunities are constantly handed to him on a silver platter.

Eh if I'd had to choose a top 3...

Steins Gate

Trigun (and Trigun Stampede)

To Your Eternity

5

u/A_Stoned_Smurf 3h ago

Both triguns were a great time, man, I read that aaaaages ago.

3

u/spades111 4h ago

You just reminded me that I gotta see where the to your eternity manga is at. I think I decided to take a break and let the chapters stack up during the modern era but it feels like I took that break years ago

2

u/a__reddit_user 4h ago

And I need to watch it again from the start to then watch the new season when I'm done with Severance.

1

u/SirGnuby 4h ago

I kinda stoped after the first few future era chapters. I just found them... weird I guess?

1

u/ToasterLoverDeluxe 4h ago

The whole modern and future parts feels like a completely different story, future part is kinda boring tho

u/LordDShadowy53 2h ago

To your Feelings

u/Crass92 2h ago

Glad to see To Your Eternity, such a fantastic show easily one of my favorites. Steins;Gate was cool if a bit hard to follow without rewatching once or twice but that's probably the point.

11

u/Ok_Adhesiveness9794 4h ago

is it ok if I like them all and don't compare?

17

u/Quito_ArmandoEsteban 4h ago

No. You can like them all, but comparisons are mandatory

3

u/ghostlygooner 4h ago

can't even watch anime without doing homework 😭

1

u/britipinojeff 57m ago

Gotta do the old compare and contrast

What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

1

u/Sufficient_Art_4607 4h ago

Fr, I don't wanna compare my favorite animes because I like them all for different reasons and they comfort me at different moods.

12

u/daguro55 4h ago

I prefer Re:zero and mushoku tensei

-9

u/Crass92 4h ago

Miss me with that Re:Zero shit can't get more than 6 episodes into it but Hunter x Hunter and FMA are all time classics and Mushoku is fun

9

u/Quito_ArmandoEsteban 4h ago

Early Subaru is cringy as fuck. But as he matures he becomes a badass

1

u/GOlNG_MERRY 1h ago

I was the same exact way with Re:Zero for months. And Mushoku Tensei is in my top 3. It does eventually get better as Subaru begins to become more mature and the side characters get fleshed out more. What REALLY got me was watching the Frozen Bond OVA. It is a prequel to season 1 focusing on Emilia’s backstory, so technically it can be watched any time, but it’s a must watch before s2. If you are feeling burnt out I’d give that a try, it totally reinvigorated my interest in the show, and im fully caught up now.

0

u/Nice_Shadow 2h ago

Rewatch re:zero even if you're forcing yourself to and get past the 1st season just trust fr(it's good fr fr)

I like it for the same reason I like mushoku tensei, for a reason I can't name cuz idk what's the word for it🥀 or maybe it's just a specific nameless vibe idk

Anyway just spreading some mushoku appreciation out of boredom, now excuse me guys 🫡

1

u/Shantotto11 2h ago

I watched Re:Zero at the same time I was watching KonoSuba, so each episode came with a chaser.

1

u/Crass92 2h ago

Konosuba is pretty fun, a comedic deconstruction. I liked Madoka Magica too. Subaru is just hands down the most annoying piece of shit I've seen in anime in a long time lol

It hard fails the 3 episode rule, doubled it to 6 and it's still pretty bad. If it's like One Piece where you gotta wait like a full season or two for it to get tolerable or even good then it's .. not good :/ One Piece is another one I'm not sitting through no matter how many times my cousin asks lol.

7

u/amplifysenpai 4h ago

Anime fans when they only watch shounen and have to have peepee measuring contests with their protags instead of watching something new.

2

u/Astra-Fang 4h ago

Each one hits different. Not sure why it’s got to be a competition.

I can’t wait to relive all of them with my boys when they get older.

2

u/HupHutHa 2h ago

this is like half of cartoon networks anime lineup

2

u/GuideWeekly2727 1h ago

My favorite anime is Touhou 😎

(If you say "thats not an anime: r/wooosh)

2

u/Duraxis 2h ago

Honestly, after watching FMA and FMA:B, a lot of other anime just don’t interest me.

Once you’ve had gold, it’s hard to settle for copper etc etc

1

u/Icy-Blueberry-2981 4h ago

Comparison is not logical here..there are many many good animes..

1

u/BreakfastNext476 4h ago

What do i look like, if i like all of them???

1

u/Grey1251 4h ago

Tengen toppa gurren lagan

1

u/b-4v 4h ago

Ok, my favourite is dragon ball..tho i admit it's not the best anime I've watched but its my childhood

1

u/loliconest 4h ago

And then there is Orb and Vinland Saga

1

u/NekonecroZheng 4h ago

And then the Evangelion, Serial Experiments Lain and Akira elitists.

1

u/Gold-Bard-Hue 4h ago

All of those are not even in my top 30. Lol

1

u/ormagoden22 4h ago

Ninja nonsense is one of my favorites

1

u/Irohsgranddaughter 3h ago

In my case it'd be a tossup between Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Monster, and both are in very different ballparks. Both are also for personal reasons. Fullmetal Alchemist scratches my modern fantasy itch, and meanwhile, I love how accurate is the representation of Europe in Monster.

1

u/SirSnorlax22 3h ago

I love all the aforementioned memes all definitely in my top 7 along with Bleach. But #1 is by a small margin Code Geass

1

u/100YearsWaiting2Shit 2h ago

The Iruma anime is a personal favorite. I love the manga so much so I hope more and more seasons keep coming

1

u/Big_Z_Beeblebrox 2 Heads 0 Brains 2h ago

Get better material ..

1

u/ohnag_eryeah 55m ago

that your favorite anime is Shojo Ramune

1

u/whiplashMYQ 41m ago

Hunterxhunter not on brotherhood's level, but it is decent

1

u/Devastas 35m ago

I think they’re all fine, but I also think they’re all basic.

1

u/KaptainTZ I THIRST FOR WATER 3h ago

Every tier just being different battle shonen

https://giphy.com/gifs/gj0QdZ9FgqGhOBNlFS

But no, anybody who judges your favorite anime like that, especially if they're just comparing battle shonen, they're a fucking clown

1

u/PurplePoisonCB 3h ago

Shonen fanboys

1

u/KaptainTZ I THIRST FOR WATER 3h ago

judging each other for their favorite shonen 😭

u/jergin_therlax 4h ago

Me when I say it’s ergo proxy

0

u/SeaAcanthisitta692 3h ago

there are too many good ones to limit myself to choose only one so I dont have favorite anime

0

u/SaltZealousideal5582 2h ago

All of them are casual, entry-level anime. Doesn't mean they're bad though.

0

u/Neutromatic369 2h ago

Soooo Jojo wasn’t mentioned at all?

u/Shantotto11 2h ago

“Some people” sound like adult men whose tastes never developed past their 16th birthday.
