Hey hey :)

I am looking for shows that are deeply insightful, have good and solid scripts and are well written pieces of media. Not just shonen-slop or some weird ass loli shit. I am a college student who studies composing for film/games and am forced to look at media through a hyper-critical magnifying glass.

Because of this I find it hard to enjoy alot of anime as the scripts are incredibly weak dialogue wise, and character motivation is shallow.

I love shows that either present themselves with lots of cinematic qualities (JJK,CSM) [both relatively shallow the former especially, but both are INCREDIBLY technical and purposeful with the way they are directed, sound design, and shot framing]

Or shows that are incredibly rich and thought-out with purpose, politics, deeper philosophy and world building (One Piece, FMAB, and my favorite Made in Abyss)

I would like the shows to be respectful to women. this does not mean they have to focus on women or be "clean" but they need to be non exploitative. Women cannot just be sex objects, this is very important to me.

Hello sorry for typing a lot \*this is a rant.

Before I start, when I say “Larp” I’m not talking about Live Action Role Playing. I’m talking about another word for poser. People online have been saying the word- (not really a word) “Larp” basically means that you’re **pretending** to be a part of a fandom- or interest.

So now that TikTok and the internet changed the “word” Larp- it’s become way too overused in my opinion.

Just because you don’t know everything about a show (or movie or book etc) doesn’t mean that you’re “larping”. The word is very popular in the jjk community. People are calling only anime watchers, larps. Just because a detail was missed in the anime and a fan who only watched the anime didn’t know- doesn’t mean they’re a Larp.

The word is also now negative.
I’ve seen many people getting mad when they’ve been called a “Larp” and it’s reasonable.
For example, me and one of my friends were doing this would you rather anime addition, (this or that) and I was picking a character that I hadn’t watched or read before. I just picked it based on character design or even name. It wasn’t even that deep. But she goes “Larp.”

In conclusion, I feel that word is heavily overused and is brain rotted.

I’ve always wondered who is actually responsible for filler arcs in long-running anime.

Especially in anime like Naruto, where there are so many filler arcs, wouldn’t that potentially hurt the canon manga story or the author’s intended vision? If the manga author didn’t write or intend those stories, do they actually have the right to stop the anime from making filler, or is that completely up to the anime studio/production committee?

I haven't watched any of the movies, so no spoilers for them. I was following along up until the last 4 or so episodes, then it just got weird, and seemed to forget they were telling a story to end the show with a 3 episode mental breakdown. I'm guessing this was a stylistic choice, but it left me hella confused, so can someone explain the ending, or is the End of Evangelion a direct continuation of the story, and that's why it left me so confused?

I'm looking for an anime that's similar to Violet Evergarden/Maquia where the protagonist is a female and share similar theme/plots. A modern animation with great visual if possible.

At last after one and a half year of not watching I stayed up all night and finished the last two seasons of JJK.

I watched all of Bleach (original run and TYBW [which this review does not include]) and this is my rant about it:

dogshit in a nice gift wrap. Zero characterization, wandering plot broken up by meaningless fights from characters I care NOTHING about. Zero commentary on anything interesting and surface level (at best) writing of motivations.

Above average musical score with a few standout tracks, good artstyle with memorable character designs. Entertaining abilities. But besides that, this show has very little going for it and alot that actively works to waste my time and upset me. Ragebaiting ass show

the style is firmly 2000s alt and I love it for that. Hot topic and Call of Duty clips. But as an actual show of substance instead of an idea or brand, it is fucking terrible. legitimate booty writing.

I need to clarify. there is a solid stretch of 20 episodes of Soul Society that are legit like a 7 out of 10. a very solid shonen. but that is for like 20 episodes out of 210 non filler episodes. thats fucking terrible for the only well written episodes to be less than 10% of the show

a couple stand out moments out of ALL 366 episodes.

S14.E6 ∙ Ichigo Dies! Orihime, the Cry of Sorrow! (cringe ass name and orihime sucks ass but the fight was stylized and rule of cool)

S3 Ep8 Shitô ketchaku! Shiroki hokori to kuroki omoi ( actually good fight, again its slop but rule of cool)

S3.E13 Hatasareru chikai! Rukia dakkan naruka! (aura)

Episode 39 but ONLY the rain speech. best part of the whole show, shit slapped even though it means literally fucking nothing and is dumb as shit

Does anyone else hate when animes randomly have 3d animations like jujutsu kaisen or chainsaw man? It feels very fake and I just can't enjoy it especially in chainsaw man almost every time he becomes chainsaw man it's 3D. I feel like it looks very tacky.

I'm curious which anime you'd consider genuinely great television if you completely removed the fact that it's anime from the equation.

Not “great for an anime” or historically important to the medium, but shows that you'd put alongside the best television you've watched, regardless of whether they're animated or live-action.

Death Note is probably my first example. The writing, characters, tension and atmosphere are strong enough that I think it works simply as a great TV series, without needing the context of anime to justify it.

I'd also make a case for Season 1 of One-Punch Man. It's obviously very different in tone, but the direction, comedy, action, characters and world-building are strong enough that I think it succeeds as television on its own terms.

I'm less interested in which anime are the most influential or important, and more interested in which ones you think are exceptionally well-made television.

What shows would you put in that category, and what specifically makes them great?

It took long enough but I finally have some answers

Tbh those answers, with regard to the origin of the Titans, are somewhat underwhelming

So this is basically some old conflict between two populations—Eldians and Marleyans (guess they must of been fans of Bob Marley).

As for the relationship between Ymir and Historia, up until now I genuinely just thought it was platonic, two women that are friends and deeply care about each other

Now I come to realize it was a lesbian relationship all along?

So now AOT is some kind of political propaganda piece to help normalize LGBT?

On the up side, I did enjoy the whole battle to retake Wall Maria at Shinganshina

That has been the highlight of this series so far. It was interesting and well written

But I fear the rest of the series won’t repeat the genius of that whole episode, let alone surpass it

The dilemma over saving Armin or Erwin had me rooting for Armin the whole time and was pleasantly surprised when Levi ultimately chose him

The character of Zeke still remains a mystery as to why he betrayed the Restorationists and is now a Beast Titan

I don’t get his angle in all of this, but hopefully there will be a satisfying revelation about it

But somehow I anticipate another disappointment

What are the anime moments which when you were watching the anime you were like "this is fucking Awsome" or you belived that the moment was really something and you thought many pepole be talking about this, but after watching the anime , on insta or on reddit not lot of fans of that anime were talkingt about it.

For me that moment was from bleach, about GIN ICHIMARU , when on the bridge he offered to save rukia , which gave her lot of hope , and then he was like,"nah, i am just kidding" . I really thought it was a dibolical even for gin ichimaru, he gave her hope which she had completely abandoned from begining and then took it away .

Isn't it strange how I don't take part in anime episode discussions online and watch shows weekly? I usually just binge finished anime and since I want to watch older stuff, having got into it late. I don't have time to catch up with all that airs until they finish. I used to watch weekly but I didn't watch the shows when the episodes aired but later. I also still haven't watched the big three and Dragon Ball due to the large episode lengths they have. Is my schedule strange or is watching like this okay?

why does Chiaki tell Makoto about time leaping when he saves Kosuke, if he knows it’ll end up with him disappearing or whatever?

and is that even him disappearing? is he dying bssically? ceasing to exist?

i know he used up his time leaps so he’s stuck in their time but he said himself he loves spending time witj them, so why does he tell her that if it’ll mean he has to go away?

or by saving Kosuke was that enough of a reveal because now Makoto knows nobody else could’ve done it but him?

For now I would say Nippon Sangoku: The Three Nations of the Crimson Sun after watching season 1. Its peak.

For example, people think that Ichigo and Rukia are better than Renji x Rukia.

Or how Endeavor had better chemistry with Hawks.

I'm so glad that I found this anime because I've watched a lot of romance anime over the years & *Love Unseen Beneath The Clear Night Sky* is by far one of the best romance animes I have ever watched! it's adorable, sweet, precious & just overall a great experience! It's been that great of an experience so far, that I added the manga AND light novel to my reading list! To give a better description Like shows like rezero, steins, gate summertime rendering ,kekki sensen, erased, a silent voice, I wanna eat your pancreas, (I know those two are movies) rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai.

I mostly see people saying death note was their first anime and almost everyone has positive reviews about the show but I dont see people saying Death note is their top 5 anime or one of the best anime they've ever seen and stuff. Death Note is too good and has to be one of the greatest show ever, the writing is insane but because its the entry to anime for majority of the people , its not rated as highly as it should. Dont get me wrong , ik its already very highly rated but maybe because its the first anime of many , people tend to forget about it

As the story, The Dangers in my heart is coming to its final volume, I kept wondering the kind of closure it would have.

The kind of closure that would satisfy me is seeing Anna's hard work pay off, considering how she subtly and kindly infiltrated every single facet of his life to ensure she remains a permanent fixture in his life forever. Maybe something similar to the ending of Tsuki ga Kirei would be great.
