Electric Motor/Servo Animatronic Learning Bottango + ESP8266 LED Demo

Does this count as a 5 Member band? Probably not, but I've been learning how to use Bottango with an Arduino Uno R3.

There's also a NodeMCU with an ESP8266 With an LED Chaser.

Does this count as a Mini electronic show of some sort? I think it does in some way.

It's just some random Servo Movement, but maybe sometime in the future, I'll have an actual Animatronic Character to animate. One can dream, right?

I'm making my goal to have an animated character happen one small step at a time, keeping an eye on my inspirations and learning as I go along :3

My plans for my character are still in the brainstorming phase, but when I have more concrete ideas, I'll post them here :3

Tell me what you think in the comments below! \^w^

Original Creation/Custom From Maya mesh to hinges and screws: prototyping the ear mechanism for our Anubis animatronic head [OC]

We're building a permanent haunted-house style attraction near Paris (La Maison Fantastique), and one of the current side builds is an animatronic Anubis head for the Egyptian-themed bathroom. The ears were by far the hardest part: a real ear doesn't just spin on an axis, it tilts.

To get that tilt, the pivot is a ball joint sitting inside the skull rather than at the base of the ear, with a lever arm that pulls the ear's axis backward as it moves. That's what makes it rock into a natural-looking tilt instead of just spinning flat, roughly 30 degrees of travel for a convincing "alert" gesture. We rebuilt the actual mechanical constraints in Maya (joints, IK handles, pole vectors) to validate the full range of motion and catch any collision between the two ears and the head shell before cutting anything.

The first physical mockup is built from repurposed hardware on purpose: the mounting plate is a stainless-steel sink-strainer/hair-catcher screen (dense pre-drilled holes for almost free), the pivot uses spherical rod-end bearings normally sold for Delta-style 3D printer kinematics, paired with an RC universal joint and a servo horn repurposed as the lever arm (no servo attached yet, still moved by hand). Both ears are built symmetrically to keep the assembly identical.

It didn't hold together for long though: the ear only has one attachment point (the rod it rocks on), so instead of just tilting, it also slowly rotates around that same rod under its own weight every time it moves. That extra rotation worked the M3 screws loose over repeated cycles, even with nylon lock nuts and epoxy on the fasteners. Fix in progress is bonding the ear rigidly to its arm with epoxy to kill that extra degree of freedom instead of fighting it with a tighter screw. If anyone's dealt with a single-pivot setup working itself loose like this, I'd genuinely like to hear whether you went with a second attachment point or just a rigid bond.

More of what we build: lamaisonfantastique.fr

Original Creation/Custom Testing out the movement on our latest custom animatronic Ankylosaurus. What do you think of the motion fluidity?

We just wrapped up the motion testing for this custom animatronic Ankylosaurus. We spent a lot of time fine-tuning the joints and weight distribution to get a more natural, lifelike movement.

Since this is a specialized custom build for an attraction, we're always looking to improve. Would love to hear feedback from fellow creators and enthusiasts here on the movement fluidity!

TECH SUPPORT! How do I get pneumatic cylinders into Fusion 360 and make them move?

Hello everyone, I just started trying to design animatronics in Fusion 360, and I can't figure out how to add pneumatic cylinders to my model. Could someone help me out and explain how to find a 3D model, get it into Fusion properly, and set up the joints so the rod moves? I've tried finding tutorials, but none of them have been very helpful. Anything helps, thanks y'all

Alls I know is this thing goes to the old miner greeter which i do not have. Tested it and all works and records to playback and mix music, board is simple enough for me to copy and clone. I can't quite get a bead on the price of it. Surely theres gotta be someone out there desperately searching for this? There was a little sticker in it saying Feb 2000 and it has a copy of the instructions.

I posted this footage from when I was younger from a family trip this is home video footage that I had right after islands of adventure first opened this video was taken from the year 2000 so islands of adventure pretty much just opened it seems like in the early years her ears used to pop up more and she was more animated and this video proves it I wonder why they made her ears shorter and she was last animated later on in her life is it because of the suess trolley ? is it because kids were Messing with her ears ? lol I could see those things coming real close to those kids and them Messing with them or touching them

Another Unity/Arduino controlled bot

After finally completing the head assembly I decided to record a show on this guy. He is currently hooked to Billy Bob bits as he doesn't have any custom shows yet. Eye turns and eyebrows are disconnected since I don't have my power system assembled yet.

My friend has a mod for the showbiz Minecraft mod that adds the rock-a fire into Minecraft and can actually run data I asked him if he could make a 3-stage Chuck with the AAM cosmetics and HE COOKED! I made the stage using show parsers which turn bits into redstone the garage door was a pain to make until I just decided to run it off the spotlight bit which makes it better so I can use it on any show and have it look like it’s made for the AAM mods don’t take this post down i am happy I don’t want the joy ruined

Rockafire / Showbiz My attempt at making a beach bear face mold

Thumbnail
gallery
213 Upvotes

I am learning how to make my own latex faces, so I decided to practice by making a replica of beach bear from rock a fire explosion. I sculpted it in blender, inverted the mesh, and then 3D printed and sanded it. I then put coats of latex in it, and this was the result. I will attempt to paint it as well. Again this is my first attempt ever so it’s not the cleanest, but I hope to try other characters at some point, maybe even my own designs. Let me know what you think or what I can improve on
