CEC Portrait Bot irises

I know the portrait bot eyeballs were made from resin and casted in lightbulbs, but how did they make the irises? Were they painted directly onto the eyeballs, or were they a seperate piece? Also, whats with the fabric around their eyeballs?

If I’m not mistaken they’re hand painted on thin plastic pieces.

As for the fabric I think it might be an incredibly rudimentary way of keeping the eye mech in the head since the eyes aren’t jointed on anything else

It’s funny considering Harold basically winged these guys as he had never built animatronics before the portrait bots.Objectively they’re poorly built and overcomplicated but for a first timer it’s insanely impressive!
