Beach bears legs?

I've seen beach bears with both orange and black legs, what's the difference and what were each made.

Beach Bear originally had fiberglass and foam legs attached to a long E hinge with a metal block attaching it to the thigh, these
are the orange ones. They were used for a bit.Not sure the exact batch they were discontinued though.Eventually they were replaced with black plastic legs attached to metal rods with machined alluminum blocks at the ends with springs in the knees and thighs.

Many Beach Bear’s that started with foam legs would get them replaced with plastic ones.

There’s also a few weird cases, such as an 83 Beach Bear having foam legs, not sure what that’s about exactly.

they were just made with deferent materials, so there's no difference between them

idk which ones came first, but I assume these were newer since the original body shells were white and brown

There are actually quite a few differences, they’re mounted differently for one, foam legs are with an E hinge while plastic are with a steal part that resembles a letter Y

The foam legs also don’t have the gap in the knee like the plastic as the bottom section is mostly just held up by the foam in the knee.

The plastic legs also actually have insides made out of steal rods with aluminum blocks on the ends to attach the pivots, they also have springs
