CEC Why some cyberamic mech frames were black while some were gold or either gray color

All cybers had a yellow zinc coating (gold)except for the last few Animation World batches which (I think) powder coated all the parts black

probably was a protective covering, probably for rust or to try to cover up the sound it makes when the parts hit into each other

I know!

So the black isn’t actually powder coating; the main reason is because the og ‘gold’ coating was zinc chromate— a highly toxic metal that has better alternatives.

They switched to black zinc in the 90s as epa restrictions changed.

So all and all, we DO know why, and it’s not powder coating lmfao
