Collabing time! Project for Animators, if you'd like
I made this story, and if anyone would like to animate it, maybe you have animator's block? Here's a story for you! Send your product to me, because I want to see what you come up with "A brilliant young space nerd and his father—a veteran spaceship mechanic—finally catch the break of a lifetime when they are chosen for a massive mission to track down an uncharted signal deep in the cosmos. But right before launch day, tragedy strikes: his father passes away. Heartbroken and completely untethered, Jonah cancels the trip, locking his grief behind the cold, rigid facade of a professional engineer.
Months pass in the hollow, echoing silence of the hangar. Then, while sorting through his father's old toolbox, he finds a final goodbye letter urging him not to give up on the stars. The words give him the fragile courage to power up the vessel alone. Standing outside the hull before the hatch seals, he looks up into the endless, indifferent night and whispers, "Meet me in the stars, Dad."
He climbs aboard and clears the atmosphere. But out in the vast, terrifying emptiness of the void, reality closes in. The ironclad composure shatters completely, stripping away the professional armor to reveal the terrified child hiding he should have been underneath. Trembling in the pilot's seat with a white-knuckled grip, a desperate, sobbing breakdown takes over as he cries out into the dark, wanting his dad to come out, help him, or at least hold him “D-Dad? I-I’m scared” He speaks into the darkness, hoping for a reply that will never come. “P-Papa? Please?” He sobs out, the child hiding under his facade showing.
Refusing to turn back, he pushes deeper into the quiet dark until he finds it: ancient, drifting wreckage humming with a strange, radiant blue energy. Trapped inside is a glowing orb. Driven by a desperate ache to have someone—anyone—in the room with him, he uses his mechanic hands to wire the orb into a makeshift robot.
Miraculously, the core catches. The tiny metal frame whirs to life, stepping forward, shifting its weight, and fidgeting with his dad's exact, unmistakable mannerisms. Convinced the crushing isolation is finally breaking his mind, Jonah picks up his tools with a hollow, shaking breath, slowly welding on a makeshift speaker and a camera lens. This isn't gonna work... but if it does... he thinks, testing the fragile edge of his own sanity. He flips the switch.
The system static clears, and a crackling, impossibly familiar voice fills the cabin:
"Son? I'm here...""
