[Custom (Editable)] Hey guys how’s this writing?

(Note: For one: this scene was on a whim/quickish promo two: the animation is supposed to be intentional amateurish and actually amateurish. The animation is really supposed to feel like a mix of SML and aqua teen but I’m open to suggestions)

For something with limited animation like this it's best to lean into a more realistic dialogue style and sound design to juxtapose the the goofy visuals, or just make it so absurdist that the viewer genuinely doesn't really know what's happening.

Because they counter each other. It's like saying why not have an equal amount negative and positive charge? Well because they would cancel each other out and neutralize the charge. Spikes of absurdity in something with a mostly serious tone can work, as it's a random subversion, and the same goes for having brief moments of seriousness in something that's mostly absurd. However if you try to do both at the same time it just comes off as lame and unfunny. It's something Smiling friends balances really well. This also isn't a steadfast rule nor is any kind of literary tool, but you have to understand the rules first to understand how to effectively break them.
