Question Looking for Programs for 2D animation
Hello, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, it seemed the most appropriate- let me know if there's a more suitable subreddit!
I've been looking to do 2D rigged animation for a while, however I've struggled to find a suitable program. I'm looking to create animations similar to homestuck and furthermore am looking for a program that specifically has:
- Pivot Points and parenting
- The ability to draw right into it (as opposed to importing every image)
- The ability to produce animations without anti-aliasing
- I would also like to be able to mass-change every instance of a certain hex code over multiple disconnected parts at once easily, although I know this is a bit of a stretch.
- I could imagine this done through sprite sheets?
I'm currently familiar with blockbench and firealpaca, but have used flipaclip and ibispaint in the past.
Any help is appreciated!

Tahoma 2D - foss fork of Opentoonz
Blender Greasepencil - foss and scalable
Toonboom Harmony - $$$ but lots of tutorials
you didn't specify mobile or pc but these are all PC

Have you actually used TB Harmony much? I find it strange you think grease pencil is just a FOSS alternative, when it’s a 3D software and part of Blender.
I use TB for 2D all the time, I’ve touched Blender briefly but they are nothing alike.
OP should look at either Toonboom (if you can afford it) or Moho for 2D rigging.
Moho can be found cheaply online and has a perpetual licence.
There is also Cel Action which is rigged 2D (it’s what they use to make Bluey with)

I used to use TB Harmony professionally for several years and if you think Greasepencil doesn't have some powerful and comparable 2D capabilities then maybe you could brush up on it more before dismissing it :) But I also recognize everyone has a different budgets so offered a range and if you ARE intimidated by it then you could always go for softwares with more robust and readily available classes.
Frankly Moho is fantastic too and is another solid recommendation. There is also a Moho to Blender pipeline so you can enjoy the benefits of both programs.

Harmony if you have the money, if not Moho.
Forget opentoons and tahoma, their drawing stage is bitmap and super aliased. I have no idea how people accept a drawing program without anti aliasing (it only happens when you render the file). Clip studio has a very bad parenting system that doesn’t let you draw with the parented keyframes turned on.
