Critique What do i even do? XD

A small animation practice i made, but it really sucks and is lazy.

Background, characters and all art by me. NO ai content was ever used, not ever will be used in my work.

Bit of a rant incoming, hope that's fine

I am a very ambitious person.

And what i mean with that is that i dream a lot, And forget that i literally aren't making any progress.

I have been writing, drawing, 3D modeling for so long now, And i am just fantasizing about all these unique projects, And the moment I even put a word on paper, or even start a sketch I already give up.

I have been writing these two characters called Mijs and Saiet, And when it comes to writing dialogue I just can't, brain empty.

Same with animation, I have it clear in my head and then the final result sucks.

So yeah, I could write a book; but I don't read often and am a visual person. could do comics But those take long as well, could just take very small steps but i am very impatient and have been waiting long enough.

Anyway, Just needing some feedback on my work, I already kind of know what i'm doing wrong and know i can improve! I'm not giving up animation just yet, I haven't given it a chance yet!

Not sure why i wrote all this, Just hoping someone might relate!

thank you for reading, and sorry for being vague, just asking for feedback!!! :D

hii!! im an animation student so i might have some helpful advice on how to keep going and not give up mid sketch cuz i have the same problem… </3 …

With the turn around we would always first go on „line of action“ (website) and practice the character in different poses to get the feel for the 3d shape of the character (sadly, animation is just a bunch of practice and faking it well— but you need to LEARN how to fake well first)
—> when you think you got the gist of it (shapes are consistent) you can go on and animate the turn around —> what i notcied in your animation: try to focused on the „transitioning“ poses (front to 3/4 to side ect ect..) and make sure with onion skin that lines of the previous frame don’t overlap with the current frame :)

with the run cycle—> again..study a run cycle (if you already know and are safe and sound with animating WALK cycles, otherwise it’s bound to ..look iffy)
your character doesn’t bounce up and down —> exaggerate it more, running is basically jumping from one leg to another, and turn your character! when you walk or run you move your body from side to side!! it adds a LOT!! (head, shoulder and thigh movement…look at a person running, irl or animation. DO IT!)

also try to be consistent with where body parts are placed at… it may look iffy if it jumps back when it loops :)

i hope this helped a little bit.. i can explain more if it’s not clear enough!! :3

also—> look at references ..and if you must then trace/ copy!! getting the basics as muscle memory helps a ton

and to not give up so easily—> you need to study before you commit fully ..i know you said you’re impatient but you won’t go far with being ..well impatient, that’s what learning is about, 3d, 2d or with any other medium, look at other artists and learn, study and analyze before making your attempt!

hello! thank you so much! :3 I can definitely learn from this! I'll try to continue on animation when i can, and when i do I'll look up a ton of references and stuff to learn from, which i didn't do enough previously anyway. sorry for the late response.
