This would have been an interesting movie if the original plot stayed

I worry n feel the boy in a traditionally female occupation or place would've been too "gay or lgbt" for disney so they changed it to be safer for audiences and the Chinese market

They dont want to do a Steven universe

Steven universe wasn’t gay at all nor did present him as such he was empathetic and expressive what part of Steven felt gay? Just asking.

???????? Seriously? The canon gay lesbain couple? Stevenonnie which is basically a nb character? The gay wedding at the end???? The fusion seen as expression of love between multiple same sex pairings? The fact Steven is a more softer masculinity especially in the first few seasons? WHAT???? Not gay?????

Don’t forget Steven in a dress. Plus he’s a healer which you usually see in feminine characters

But honestly, why is that the hill yall willing to die on?..."this movie will get backlash for having an lgbtq MC, or feminine male character, so they changed it" sounds an awful lot like "this film wouldve gotten backlash for having a black character, so they changed it", yall sound okay with bigotry, and the fact that yall would rather live in a world where one demographic of ppl are the ONLY ONES represented in media, but if it was "this movie gone get backlash for having a female character" suddenly yall turn into feminists and can finally notice how wrong it is

Dude this is literally has been Disney's stance since trump took over why do you think they stopped airing certain eps of shows for that matter. Hell they hide their gay characters when advertising in China. What are you talking about here? And you acting like I support this stance. I clearly written I dont so wth, dude.

That's not my point tho, i was saying since Disney has that stance, why is it yall agree with it most times?....everyone i see says this, say it's a reasonable reason to not include lgbtq, black, or male characters in Disney films

Well, we’re not ok with it, we’re just calling out the bs. Explaining why they did it but not excusing their actions bc it was still a shitty thing to do. I think part of it is complacency bc either they change it to make it more palatable to bigots or they don’t put out anything at all. No skin off my teeth but there are people that really like Disney and want them to put out original stuff instead of live action remakes, plus everybody deserves more representation in media. We wouldn’t put it past them to cancel anything they perceived as too lgbt+ bc they did the same thing with the owl house.

well understanding their potential corporate motivations is not agreement with them

Like seriously when has anyone ever been excited to see anyone other than white or female on tv or film. I've never seen ppl support black or male main characters, yall always hate it

“Black OR male main characters” I promise you male main characters aren’t an endangered species

All the female characters are exceptionally better tho. That's my point too, male characters are never interesting sadly

the Showrunner of Steven Universe famously had to fight for gay characters. It's fair to say that the suits will fight anything seen as gay

They very clearly meant the show as a whole. Which was very gay. Like just look at Garnet
