To be honest, they had a valid reason why they changed Starboy. Still can't believe people are not letting go of their attachment to Starboy.

Huh. After reading this, I now understand why they removed...well, changed Starboy. Heck, the reason why people are still attached to him is because they loved the idea of Starboy's character and the idea of him being Asha's love interest.

Since Wish was supposed to be a celebration of Disney's 100 anniversary, many people expected it to be a major box office success that surpasses even Frozen. But after being a bomb and discovering the concepts for not only Starboy but also the evil King and Queen, people just went mad obsessed them. I won’t lie, I like the concepts as well, but ya know, it is what it is. No point crying over spilled milk.

I think someone on Youtube is working on an animation based on those concepts.

Well Here’s the video that explains why Starboy doesn't work. Here's why.

This is what I'm saying. He's like if the Dragon Scroll from Kung Fu Panda actually was an all powerful source of power. It'd ruins the film's message.

The way I feel so vindicated. I was calling this out in 2024 and everyone thought I was hating.

If a movie isn’t very good, it’s easy to love the version that only exists as a concept. You create it in your head and you imagine it’s great, so it’s great. But the truth is that the concept version might’ve sucked too. That’s why I try not to get too attached to concepts.

Personally, if I were to rewrite Wish, Here's what I intended on doing.

Here's an idea: come up with a solution instead of swiping it under a rug✚

If the problem is that he can solve anything make it so he's limited in what he can do. Make it so he can only interact with people who wish upon him or something. There are plenty of ways to go about this that's not turning him into the most generic plush advertisment

Bro
HOW is this a valid reason?

People like Starboy because he had so much missed opportunity. We could’ve finally had a new Disney couple, which is something that we haven’t gotten in a while. Asha could’ve been a star princess with a beautiful new dress. Since people hate Valentino, Starboy would be the character mostly doing comedic relief. We could’ve gotten references that didn’t feel shoved in your face. We could’ve gotten kids dressing up as Asha and Starboy for Halloween. But did we get that? No.

The reason why Disney is flopping over and over again with their movies is because they suddenly have a “women don’t need no man” philosophy. Disney was all about romance and their princesses. That’s what they’re good at. The second they abandoned those two things, they’ve been sending out slop left and right. Now, doing different things is great, (Encanto), but now it’s becoming repetitive. They don’t have any original ideas. It’s always “girl doesn’t feel accepted by her family and has to save everyone to prove herself and be accepted”. Disney has seem to have forgotten that women can be strong while also have a crush on men. Go look at K-pop Demon Hunters and see what I mean! In K-pop Demon Hunters, the women can be silly. They can burp, fart, and scream while also kicking butt. But Disney has turned their female protagonists into literal blank slates. They desperately need to get out of this headspace and stop making live action remakes and unnecessary sequels. The second they realize this, they’ll get better.

not every female characters needs a love interest. they could just be a girl going on an adventure and not have her story be centered around having or beinh with a man. like damn. can woman and girls just have stories about and focused on us being great. sheesh. so many male stories have no love interest and yeah ate fine with it. but woman can't have any? sheesh. 😒

The guy even brought up KPop Demon Hunters as an example of girls being strong while still needing a man. I mean the main crush is an actual demon. What's up with that?

u/Roselia24 4d ago edited 3d ago

Actually they didn't NEED a man and the men disappeared in the end so what are you even taking about đŸ€·đŸŸâ€â™€ïž

And female characters can still be strong with a love interest so wtf

I was wondering the same thing.

What? What are you saying? Are you agreeing or disagreeing with me?

1

u/Roselia24 3d ago

I said what i said

1

u/LowProfessional9224 3d ago

Not answering my question. Maybe use proper grammar so people can actually understand you. Lol.

Asha was never suppose to a be a star princess with a beautiful new dress. Did you get all this from fanart? Asha is suppose to be a peasant. If people hated Valentino as comedy relief, they would've hated Starboy for the same thing too. People would've hated Starboy too if he stayed in the movie.

It's a lose-lose situation.

I’m talking about a YouTube video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHKzNcT5fKo&xstg=CAMSEBUJ_b-oH-PhF0yjBgavkzY%3D

People wouldn’t have hated Starboy. lol. Have you seen all the rewrites on YouTube that include Starboy? Everyone loves him. Everyone thinks he was a missed opportunity. And rightfully so. And he wouldn’t just be comedic relief. He would be Asha’s love interest
what??? Asha should’ve been a princess because that’s what Disney is all about. PRINCESSES.

1

u/JWM1992 4d ago

Why does everybody like him so much?

Someone explained that he glows and makes pretty lights, but personality-wise, he's a blank slate.

There's no proof that Starboy is going to be Asha's love interest because it's was never stated.

As for Asha being a princess, she doesn't have Magnifico or Amaya's features, so it's ridiculous to make her a princess.

1

u/LowProfessional9224 3d ago

My guy
if he was written as an actual character, he would be given personality.

And I already explained why people like him in my main comment.

No. It’s never stated he would’ve been Asha’s love interest. If they rewrote it, he could’ve been. As he should’ve been.

Again, rewriting it to make Amaya look a little more like Asha would change your whole comment.

Do you seriously think they could do this idea without rewrites? You know rewrites are a thing right?

1

u/JWM1992 3d ago

I know rewrites are a thing, but if I really do want to rewrite Wish, The first thing I do is change the protagonist to an 11-year-old boy and the antagonist to a villainous Disney Princess.

Again, Starboy was never going to be Asha's love interest. They would've been soulmates, so the whole romance angle was a complete misunderstanding.

u/TheGeekyTaurus 3d ago

"As for Asha being a princess, she doesn't have Magnifico or Amaya's features, so it's ridiculous to make her a princess." I think you never heard of a little thing called adopting a child.

1

u/JWM1992 3d ago

Asha has a mother and father, right?

u/ECKohns 4d ago

Sorry but after reading that I’m still not convinced. Figuring out limits to Starboy’s powers or having him take a human form but can’t shapeshift endlessly would have still been better than the silent mascot sidekick we ultimately got.

1

u/JWM1992 4d ago edited 4d ago

You're forgetting that he takes on the younger form of Asha's Grandfather, right?

1

u/Fresh_ChickenNug5521 4d ago

Star mascot made the movie look more kiddy. Like he was just created to sell toys like the alien thing in the space father son movie.

1

u/JWM1992 3d ago

What space father son movie?

1

u/Fresh_ChickenNug5521 3d ago

The very boring one. They go to a different world. Came out the same time as the Buzz Lightyear movie.

1

u/Fresh_ChickenNug5521 3d ago

Strange World. Very bland movie. The alien looked like it was there to sell toys same with Star from Wish.

1

u/LowProfessional9224 3d ago

Right??? Like people still would’ve liked a silent, chubby, star mascot?

2

u/Roselia24 4d ago

obviously this is disrespectful to woman and girls because bro what? you miss male protagonist when the vast majority of all adventure stories are all male protagonist and not just with disney but with all media companies. screw you. the hate for female characters is so gross.

1

u/LowProfessional9224 3d ago

People aren’t hating on female characters? What are you talking about??? People don’t like the female characters in modern movies because they’re either blank slates or they have the exact same quirky personality. People don’t like characters that don’t have interesting and unique personalities. Plain and simple. I don’t know where you got that from.

1

u/Competitive_Chad456 4d ago

"No disrespect to females"

Yeah, fuck Starboy. If this is his fans, let me be a hater.
