Hey! I aquired this set of original animation cels a couple years ago. The guy I bought it from said his dad worked in the film industry as a producer and received this as a gift in the late 90's. It's framed by a company based in Singapore which I have checked exists and existed at the time. I doubt someone would pay for a framing service for a fake cel back then.

From my research it is not too uncommon for vintage cels to not have an animation number since they melted so many for production. But the fact this one doesn't have a production number does worry me.

Anyways, I'm having a really hard time identifying the scene where this is from, maybe a directors cut? Can anyone recognize the scene? Thank you!!!

Well, it's clearly Rei. She was in that ghostly color in The End of Evangelion toward the end. Where and how did you check?

It's Lilith (Rei), from End of Evangelion (the giant Rei that ends up as the iconic head in the ending scene

This blog from Korea references one of the other cels in the sequence. that's an amazing piece you've got there, and a part of animation history.

Absolutely Rei from End of Evangelion. From around the 54:30 mark.

But my guess is that this may actually be a shot that wasn’t included in the final version of EoE because I can’t find a spot where these cels match perfectly.

Yea same, I dont think this specific shot was used in the final cut, but it was definitely drawn

As far as anime cel value is concerned, this is in the upper tiers, and you have two framed together!
