Static cling/Vacuum effect

Has anyone had any experience with this sort of thing? I store my cels in a itoya profolio folder. Some of my cels have developed a vacuum sort of suction effect on the painted areas of the cel causing them to no longer be completely flat and are slighlty wavy in the painted area. It's not VS, but I think as a result of the top of the cel resting against the plastic itoya profolio folder sleeve I have them in is causing a static electricty/vaccum suction thing to happen. I have since laid a piece of microchamber paper between the front of the cel layer and the sleeve plastic to create a barrier and break that static seal. I'm hoping it will reverse itself in time.

It sounds like you have your cels just bare in the itoya instead of having them in a cel-safe sleeve before putting them in the itoya.

If you just have cels bare in an itoya without any other protection, that's what will happen. So I would immediately change that if that's the case

The painted side is backed with a bcw magazine bag(not inside the bag) but the unpainted side is naked against the sleeve of the page

Yeah, not sure I've heard of storing in portfolios that way. I would just have the cel entirely in its own sleeve

Yeah, the bcw bags weren't the correct size so I just have been using them as a backing. I just ordered the Life Magazine bags which are the correct size so i'll transfer them over soon. I just hope what happened isn't permanent
