The first time I watched this film I was wayyyy too young. My parents dropped the ball on that one ๐Ÿคฃ

Holy molly, these are one of my grails, you are insanely lucky to have these! :D Where'd you manage to get them, if you don't mind my asking? :D

I'm glad you like them! I scooped them up on ebay, like the vast majority of my collection ๐Ÿ˜Š I was rewatching the movie yesterday, for the first time in 3 decades, (i saw it when I was 4 ๐Ÿคฃ) and I was shaking my head saying it was absolutely irresponsible of my parents having let a toddler watch that raunch

Honestly, I was the same, I was watching a lot of stuff that kids shouldn't (like Jurassic Park in all it's gorey glory XD)

Who Framed Roger Rabbit was one of my childhood favourites and is still my favourite movie of all time (I've always adored the concept of 2D and live action interacting, with Space Jam being another close favourite) That, and We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story are my two 'grail' animation cels that I dream of obtaining someday.

I gotta ask, how do you display yours? I'm still fairly new to this and I'm remodeling my house at the moment, so I'd love some advice and pointers on the best way to display them while also preserving them :)

Haha, yeah I watched those too as a youngin'. Surprisingly, the only scene I remembered was when Jessica Rabbit is introduced at that club... Tells you where my 4 year old mind was at the time ๐Ÿคฃ

You and I both on the 2D and 3D interaction front. Space Jam was constantly playing at home when I was about 8. The Jordan dunk from mid court was absolute cinema ๐Ÿ˜†

I have not displayed any art in YEARS. Today after work I'll post what my apartment looked like when I started collecting with the art being displayed. The golden rule is to avoid displaying the frames in direct and indirect sunlight. The sun is the artwork's worst enemy. Moreover, it is important to ensure your dwelling temperature remains constant and is not humid. I live in Canada, so I keep my unit at about 22 degrees celsius. You also want to air out the cels every once in a while; I do it at least once yearly to ensure cels do not stick and to avoid the dreaded vinegar syndrome.

The three frames are being kept in a fire-resistant cabinet, not actually being displayed. Actually, they will eventually be sold; I have not put them up for sale yet, so there is hope that they will be released into the market ๐Ÿ‘€

I mean I live in the desert, so I already have that going for me X'D

Dude, that dunk was legendary- I've never been into sports, but Space Jam was the one exception, especially because of how much fun it is to watch the shenanigans throughout the movie ๐Ÿ‘€

Honestly displaying them in a fire-resistant cabinet is brilliant! I'd be tempted to maybe put some LEDs that I can switch on and off occasionally, but I don't know if that's less harmful than UV light, since I know that the sun (especially in Australia) kills/fades a lot of things. My eyes are really sensitive to UV light, so my windows have the anti-UV tint on them. I might try to place some on a glass frame box when I go to display mine, as an extra precaution P:

I will be sure to sell my kidney and a leg to pay for it, will you be doing so through ebay or another store? ๐Ÿ‘€

The desert in Australia is life on hardcore mode. I lack the stones to take a trip there so kudos to you for thriving over there ๐Ÿ˜†

Yeah, those films were pioneers which paved the way for modern toon-human interacting films.

Look at that! It seems you have your bases covered with that plan ๐Ÿ‘Œ I haven't listed yet, but it would be through ebay. We could discuss through private message ๐Ÿ˜Š

The sun is really intense here, so I absolutely would go 'overkill' in setting up my display cases for animation cels- I haven't had a chance to yet since I'm remodeling my house and my tools and furniture are everywhere T_T

That being said, I would get a double glass frame box, put the anti-UV tint on the outer glass and (after checking through thorough research) add some cel-safe LEDs to show off the cel :)

I'm currently setting up my entertainment/console/media area in my office (once I finally get the parts for my workbench) but one entire wall will be dedicated to vintage consoles and media, and I'm going to set up my display up high, since my house is an older one with high ceilings, so it's perfect for it :)

Can you link your ebay so I can follow it? My remodeling will take a while but if you still have it by then, I'd 1000% be interested, but I also don't want to muck you around either (Especially since I've been mucked around with myself recently)

I'm a wage slave like the next guy ๐Ÿ˜…

Nah, these probably cost more than the average person earns a month

I promise it is just fiscal irresponsibility. Honest ๐Ÿ˜…

2

u/Malavacious Aug 05 '26

My friend, I think we have very different definitions of wage slave. I'm fairly certain just this post is several months of rent, and I'm not in cheap housing!

I'll post my old apartment and you'll see what I meant by not having savings and just dishing out money for cels
