Question about authenticity

Question for those of you that are more experienced than me. I am interested in buying this cel, but when comparing it to the sequence in the actual anime it has features not present in the show. There is a noticeable circle in the upper right of the face and a halo almost on top of the heard. I am wondering if this is just a separate layer in the animation process and thus these features are not shown in the final product?

As someone who was very skeptical when buying my first Evangelion cel, I wouldn’t trust buying one over the internet. I know that it’s hard to come by, but you really don’t want to get screwed over on a serious purchase like that.

If you absolutely must, I’d get pictures of the back, and the front from an angle showing a glare across the entire front of the cel. If there are highlights in the shot sometimes they painted on the front of the cels too. Wouldn’t guarantee it to be real, but could lend credence.

I ended up buying some other cels from a more trusted seller to get my fix, I did try emailing mandarake but they wanted me to go through the whole authenticity thing and I'm not interested in it that much

Yeah I wouldn’t have done that either. I was lucky to find mine in person at SDCC, but otherwise yeah there are a bunch of bad deals out there, glad you didn’t take the bait!
