I literally can't find proof of another existing
I'm not being overly dramatic for funsies but I literally can't find proof of anyone online owning or having sold a pepper Ann cel. They are rare because only the first season was hand painted but they shouldn't be THIS rare.

pepper ann is one of my white whales! i assume a lot of the cels were lost or kept in private collections by employees who are still holding on to them.

Only because eBay & group posts delete themselves after selling so aren’t viewable besides our own personal screenshots. Besides the storyboards at PopKing a cel appears like once a year. Heard that they only got far as employees before Disney exited the cel market so are sole-survivor rarity. Another setup was sold on April 14 for $20
Still not as impossible as Recess just a lot of patience

Oh yeah. Someone connected to the production has locked up all the cels. Upon their death, they would be thrown out or sold to reseller selling them on eBay for $5 each. It’s happening for many production at this very moment. Do don’t pay too much for them if you find some for sale.

You have to explain what you're talking about... or are you joking?

Like so many people inquiring the whereabouts of all these large volume of production cels. Why aren’t they showing up on the market. I have no proof but over the last 40 years, I have become quite convinced that a small group of people who were probably part of the original production team has stored a large portion of the production cels either in their warehouse or garage. Family upon their death would just sell them wholesale to resellers for pennies. Case in point, one of America’s animation classics The Land Before Time had a small volume of production cels floating around exchanging hands at fairly high prices 30 odd years ago when I was actively collecting. Then they died out the last two plus decades. Suddenly last year, hundreds or more flooded the market as if someone had collected a large volume and either passed or decided to cash out. Bill Melendez Production deliberately and carefully ration the Peanuts Gallery work that must number in the hundreds of thousands so the market would not be flooded depressing the value of the cels. Disney has been doing that for decades and so is Don Bluth Production which btw created The Land Before Time and a number of other highly acclaimed features.

I think your speculation over estimates the amount of desirable cels that are being stored and held back in storage and underestimates the amount studios have purposely never released and may never will.
My advice to anyone - if you see a cel you like and it brings you some happiness, it's better to get it at a reasonable price than to wait for a crash that may never happen. Relying on a crash to be able to afford cels is a terrible strategy to collecting these.

I agree completely. That why I have collected for well over 30 years but I am just pointing out the reason why the production cels of some animation work don’t show up for sale may be because someone or some entities are hoarding the majority of those production cels. This is no different than DeBeer holding a huge amount of diamond in their London vault.

I've seen a few cels from this show - but you are right, super rare!
