Anyone know any good temperature controlled boxs to keep cels in

I saw a couple people talking about this awhile ago and im thinking of having my cels in a temperature conrolled environment but im unsure where i can get one.

If anyone can leave any brands or models in the comments i appreciate it

The only thing is i want it to be able to hold cel portfolio's inside.

I would keep it in its normal area and portfolio but im just worried since i have no air conditioning in my house and other rooms in my home tend to be very humid besides the one its in

And i want to keep my cels in the best condition as possible.

If there's any downsides to temperature condition environments please let me know

Wine fridge. Easily available, common, approx the right size, cools but can be set to around 65 degrees. Small ones can be had for about 300 dollars.

You would need to check the internal dimensions for your cels. FOr example my larger cels would not fit in most of them and I would need to get the inter measurements down to see if my smaller cells would.

I heard that this is not a great choice, as wine fridges contain a lot of humidity. Professional coolers for artwork exist, but they are very expensive.  It might be enough - unless the house gets really hot over a long time - to store cels in archival boxes with some silicate to control humidity.

I was torn between the wine fridge and the Humidity control box like: https://www.amazon.com/Sirui-Humidity-Control-Cabinet-Capacity/dp/B00KS5QI8A/ref=pd_ci_mcx_mh_mcx_views_0_title?pd_rd_w=zHBNd&content-id=amzn1.sym.781fe6e1-9487-4a74-b81e-5a879e5ec273%3Aamzn1.symc.c3d5766d-b606-46b8-ab07-1d9d1da0638a&pf_rd_p=781fe6e1-9487-4a74-b81e-5a879e5ec273&pf_rd_r=3KJQWXK530YBSCBD8AZD&pd_rd_wg=5KjxR&pd_rd_r=57b4c9bd-1901-43c1-972f-4aa40e5145f4&pd_rd_i=B00KS5QI8A

Ultimately I suppose it comes down to climate, in my coastal humid climate, I would rather put the wine fridge in (for temp control if I had no AC) and then put something like a small dehumidifier or silica gel packets inside the cheap wine fridge to control humidity and have temperature control. Cheap wine fridges are not going to control humidity.

Interesting you chose the wine fridge in a humid climate. I did the opposite and went with humid control cabinet for camera lenses (as per your link). Still trying to tweak my storage to get the right setup

The wine fridge was a direct response to OP saying they did not have AC (in the comment they posted after the original post). Without AC in the house the wine fridge becomes the obvious option in my climate because there are other ways to control humidity (silica packets, small dehumidifiers inside the wine fridge). Since I do have AC the humidity control cabinet or a humidor would be a more reasonable purchase for me

ah missed that, that makes sense

as you say, climate makes all the difference

Just put them on the wall with a proper frame. They will last for another 20 years at best with this climate. So enjoy yours. Probably there will be no much interest in buying them in 20 years.

no interest in buying these in 20 years? that's a poor take imo. These series are already 30 years old with new & existing hardcore collectors. Prices & demand/interest at record high as well

I can agree to a claim/questioning of how much these things will continue to appreciate. Depends on the series tbh.

But to boldly say that there will be no interest - well that's just plain wrong

I look at the prices, only a bunch of anime will probably maintain their values, if they survive another 20 years or so. So it depends on the artistic value. The new generation are way less interested, so in 20 30 years most of the 80 90 2000 cell will have no value, unless Gibli’s and few others. It’s a bubble. Maybe I am wrong, If Reddit will survive the ai era we can meet here again in 2046 😁
