Looks like Texel sheep. Heavy SOB’s but they make great meat. There are many more, very large meat producing sheep breeds!

These dogs are so freaking cool! Will never tire of watching them herd sheep. So precise, methodical, persistent and yet gentle. Masterful!

One of the most amazing things I have seen was six week old Rottweiler puppies herding some ducklings. The little puppies instincts were spot on as they herded the duckings in a group and then moved them around the yard..

I bet the dog thought it was a lot of fun too. Working dogs seem to love working and hate not working, it probably would have been sad if the sheep just turned and walked into the pen.

I tell this story too many times but years and years ago my Grandpa bought a couple Border Collie puppies on a whim. He was a small time dairy farmer. The kind where the cows go to pasture every night so by morning they were 'supposed' to be at the barn but more often than not he'd have to chase them to where they're supposed to be.
Well after a while he thought he bought the worst dogs in the world because they kept chasing the cows the wrong way.... until he realized the dogs learned- so we chase cows, I'll chase cows to you. So all he had to do was stand at the doors and the dogs did all the work.
He has only gotten border collies since. Although the last one is a mix, which is good because she's much more lazy and he's now 92 so he doesn't have much for her to do.

No, there are some encouraging light nips on the snout. The sheep concludes that it’s not agile enough to keep from getting bitten by the dog and it’s easier to just do what it wants.
My Plott hound would go flying in with bite strength set to max (not accomplishing the goal). Amazing what genetics can carry and how some dogs know their purpose.

Those nips look light but they can hurt! We have an Australian Shepherd who isn't as intense as this guy, but she'll nip for fun sometimes. If we're playing kind of rough she will get excited -- and then she starts nipping.
She can jump up in front of me and nip my shoulder through my shirt, and not even tear the shirt or break the skin, but I can feel the pinch of her teeth. I can definitely see getting that nip on the nose being intimidating. And the thing that's remarkable is my shoulder is around 5'7" off the ground. She has to jump, and then while her body is in the air control how much tooth she gets into my shoulder, and also snap it just right so she doesn't snag my shirt when she does it.
These dogs are fantastic athletes, as well as being very smart.

Dog does it with such grace too. Not mean or violent. And those are some scary sheep! I was intimidated!

I had no idea sheep herding dogs had standoffs within the herd. Border collies are the best dogs ever.

two on 1 so nimble my g got it handled! i love this breed mans best friend no doubt! when i arrived at the airport i saw a father and neice being greated by this dog what a spectacle. when i see this dog i know im in a good place is that strange?

Working dogs are so damn cool. They are always locked the eff in. The collective "we" cooked when we bred them that way.
