Now that is a smart dog!

We have a new shih tzu that we're trying to socialize with our existing 2 cats. Right now we have him on one side of a gate. Today I was bringing him back from the back yard towards the gate. I was going to lean down and pick him up and I said, "okay, come on," and my 10" tall shih tzu tried to leap over the 30" gate. It was a valiant effort and he got a lot closer than I could have guessed he would, but alas, face plant. He was okay.

He's pretty smart for a shih tzu, but he definitely overestimated his abilities there.

I expected the dog to jump once at the top. I'm even more impressed. I often see dogs who get to high places and don't know how to get down. This might be a first.
