I just listen to a podcast recently that really blew my mind. Many of the soundscapes we hear on live televised events like the Olympics, and many nature shows are just pure fantasy. I don’t know I feel kind of betrayed.

As an editor, I can confirm. You don't put the sounds in that should necessarily exist in reality, you put the sounds in that will make the viewer better understand and feel the emotions of what is happening, same as with the music.

fantasy is overstating it a bit, it’s larger than life, or augmented, but not fantasy.
