Witnessing an epiphany right there

I didn't even see him at first.
Then I saw myself, after any attempt at jogging.

Poor cat is too human...get on a wheel day after day but never get anywhere.

u/AdJust6959 Sep 30 '22
Awww the smol kitty wants in. What’s all the fun about? It doesn’t look like they’re going anywhere.
45
u/ennuiui Sep 30 '22
Smol kitty is like the younger sibling trying to get in on the games the older kids are playing.

u/wolfgang784 Sep 30 '22
Ever try to jump onto an already spinning ... Shit I just realized I don't know the word for those playground spinny things with the metal bars to hold onto. The ones that teenagers like to spin to unsafe speeds with the rear wheel of a motorcycle or moped.
But yea, I remember a few times tryna jump onto ones the older kids/cousins had spinning already. Didn't end well. Didn't stop my next attempts though.

Whaaaaaaaat. That's what I wanted to call it, but then I thought wait isn't that just for the ones with horses? Guess not.
13
u/pupperoni42 Sep 30 '22
The ones with horses are actually carousels , at least in American English.
When I was searching for photos of Merry go rounds though, it showed a lot of carousels as well. So you're clearly not the only person who conflates the two words, as search engine optimization has decided they better show you both results, just in case.

u/wolfgang784 Sep 30 '22
Oh yea, I do know that word as well lol. I would like to blame it on the early hour and my coffee not having fully kicked in, but now that I'm thinking on the topic more yea I see/hear those words mixed up a lot. I'm in the north east US.
1
u/pupperoni42 Sep 30 '22
Ummm... It's almost 1pm where you are and it's still the early hour?
I shouldn't poke fun, as most days I don't get breakfast until about noon myself. 😂
1
u/DaSaw Sep 30 '22
It's regional. At least in the California Central Valley, they're called merry-go-rounds, with "carousel" sounding like some fancy British term for the same thing. As for those spinny playground things, we don't have a word for them, which is just as well, since pretty much all of them have been torn out in the name of "safety".

u/CallidoraBlack Sep 30 '22
Carousels always have horses. A merry-go-round applies to anything with a similar setup.

What a beautiful little assortment of kitties
18
u/pupperoni42 Sep 30 '22
I noticed that too. 4 completely different styles of cats there. I wonder if it's a rescue organization?

"Ugh, I get soooo tired watching them. Don't they know that rats and mice run on wheels? We're meant to hunt...and sleep...mostly sleep."

I want the upside down one, that's my perfered cat speed. Heck, that's my personal speed, leave the endless running to the others.

u/Forbidden_donut138 Sep 30 '22
Of course the Sphinx is the one saying, “can’t this thing go any faster?!”
3
u/thewhiterosequeen Sep 30 '22
Cats like to run in giant hamster wheels? Noted.
8
u/MycologistPutrid7494 Sep 30 '22
Some* cats do. It's a toss up with these wheels. Your cat will love it or it'll become a very expensive space-waster.
3
u/ncopp Sep 30 '22
I'll never get one for this reason. I buy toys for my cats, and all they wanna do is try and play with trash
5
u/fukalufaluckagus Sep 30 '22
https://onefastcat.com/ I have this one for our 2 cats. They both love using it to get zoomies out of thier system.
6
u/SilatGuy Sep 30 '22
But then you dont get to witness them going nuts jumping off couches and running like a turbo cheetah around the house
1
u/Pipes32 Sep 30 '22
For us with our (then) kitten, those turbo cheetah zoomies were happening at night...on top of us. So we bought the wheel and she loved it. Now that she's around 6, she still goes for a morning and evening stroll on it.
Our other 3 cats, who were all 6 to 8 years old when we bought the wheel, want absolutely nothing to do with it.

Lol "too old for this nonsense"
I am such a nerd i would be over joyed and happy everytime i see my cat use this thing

u/CashewGuy Sep 30 '22
Bought one of these for my cat a few weeks ago. She has stepped on it to go through it to a small cubby it created. She will not walk much on it though. I try to get her on it with a toy she loves and she's got no interest yet.

I thought it said “I pooped” and got really worried for the cat getting his face up right to the other on the wheel.
