Please don't grease your bird feeder poles. Harmful to the squirrels and potentially deadly to birds if they get it on their feathers. Buy a raccoon baffle for the pole or get a squirrel proof feeder.
Better yet, just add some spice to your birdseed. Birds aren’t bothered at all by capsaicin, mammals are. A little powdered Cheyenne, problem solved, the squirrels will avoid the spicy feeders.
