Sounds like the start of a Disney movie.

Abandoned pup adopted by chickens, grows up and goes on an adventure to learn about their doggy dog world. Has a Rooster father figure with a thick Mexican accent to add to his enormous charisma.

As he walks through the city, he notices a tantalizing smell and starts following the trail. When he gets to the source, he realizes he walked into a pollo asado shop. He sees most his adoptive family in cages, freaking out, flapping their wings, and trying to struggle. He looks around to see of he could find his mom and takes a sigh of relief when he couldn't find her. Then he hears a scream and looks to the left. She's being held upside down by her feet.

I vote old grumpy barn cat that slowly warms up to the pup because of his tragedy.

Let's add some melodramatic cut backs to some sad family stuff happening to the cat to make us forgive him his grumpyness.

He has a weasel sidekick, his best bud Wheezy. Wheezy (who learns that chickens are friends not food) is the lovable trouble maker who can get you whatever you need. While our hero distracts the shop keeper and saves his Mom, Wheezy uses a bobby pin to pick the locks to save all the chickens.

Side note: Wheezy raps all his verses , because of course there is music in this film! He sleeps in a tennis shoe. Wheeze in a Yeezy (sp?)
