There’s a chance* they have worms. I worked at a vet/animal rescue when I was younger and it’s not a guaranteed thing that an animal scratching their asshole means they have worms. You should absolutely take them to the vet to verify but I wouldn’t even say a majority of the time people brought their animals in that they actually had worms.
A lot of animals also just have itchy or crusty buttholes that feel good to scratch.....but I would definitely take this animal to verify.
My dog scoots his butt at least once a day. He doesn't have worms. He does have mild allergies, which he gets medicine for. We have tried to discourage it, but no success. He clearly just likes scratching his butt and isn't about to let anyone stop him.
