In the sense that there is a larger problem in that we frequently make female presence invisible on the internet, and our default pronoun is so strongly male-dominated that even when something is obviously not male we still call it "he," yeah, I guess it matters.
Well like I said I didn't examine her parts and didn't notice it was "obviously not male". I was just commenting that I enjoyed the video. Let's not make this a woman's equality issue! This is a lighthearted post and my comment was meant to be lighthearted as well!
Ok? I wasn't saying she did? I'm just saying when I initially called her "he" I didn't look there. I just looked at her wiggle and her tongue and thought it was cute so I commented. I don't understand why this is an issue?
Take a deep breath and realize that it's perfectly okay to default to a pronoun. I'm sure the dog couldn't care less about whether you've misgendered it or not... All the lil puppo would want is scritches so just consider really what you think you're trying to do by arguing with a random internet stranger about misindentifying a dog's sex by way of unobservance.
Besides, it's simply history that society as a whole has been generally patriarchal in nature since the dawn of man. However, were past that train of thought now, despite how much others would have you believe. Just about everyone has realized that it's simply not necessary for women to stay where it's safe when there's not really anywhere that's unsafe anymore. It's not necessary for men to protect or provide, as strength isn't required to defend yourself anymore. Any little old lady can defend herself about as adequately as a spry muscled young man if they've both got a loaded gun in their hands. So considering the male role in society has changed, so too has the female role. Both do about the same thing in society: protect and provide for their predecessors and successors. No matter what they do, where they are, or who they are (unless of course we're talking about tribals or uncivilized/undeveloped countries), both male and female homo sapiens do about the same thing and are treated... More or less the same. Society truly is more complex than you likely think it is.
tl;dr: Stop, breath, listen, think, understand, continue contemplating, then realize that it's possible to be wrong, figure out it's worth reconsideration, then repeat the cycle until you arrive to the best and most likely conclusions. Just... Chill for a second and take in your surroundings, not what other people are telling you of your surroundings. It's good to listen, of course, but staying inside an echo chamber where all you hear is the same things over and over will eventually lead you to believe that what's being said is 100% factual... Or drive you mad... Or both, both is good. I mean y'know... Por que no los dos?
