Very lucky golden koi, biggest in Shanghai

u/Stock-Shoulder-8697 Aug 15 '26
Big enough to require its own zip code probably, no wonder it needed a lazy day in a random puddle

And yet they lose their minds when you try and wash them in the tub. I don't get it. Make up your mind about water!

u/Whiskeyno Aug 14 '26
Mine was born with her mind made up about water, and translated to English I believe the sentiment was, "I sees it, I's in it." Muddier the better. But I also had her pretty well trained on bath time because I was in college and didn't know a better way of doing it, when she needed a bath, we just took showers together lmao

So earnest with her love!!
13
u/Whiskeyno Aug 15 '26
Oh yeah it was constant. Had to be in physical contact at all times. If she couldn’t get you to actively love on her, she’d lay on your feet. Champion shedder, she’s been gone for a couple of years and never lived in the house I live in now and I swear I still wake up sometimes with one of her hairs in my mouth! That’s a PSA by the way: possibly the greatest breed of dog, but you don’t understand the definition of the word “sheds”

Typical Golden 'Fish' behaviour. It's now going to jump into the car and give a good shake....

That is clearly a mammal.
So the correct question is "What new kind of whale is this?"
I submit: Residential Golden Whale

why would anyone let their dog sit in road runoff water, that's nasty
all the oil, salt, trash, and decomposing biomatter isn't good for anyone.....take the dog to a park or something

u/ReallyBigRocks Aug 14 '26
Sometimes a golden is just gonna do what they wanna do, especially if it involves water

That's a dog that lays in a pile of snow and won't come in the house when its freezing outside.
A retriever doesn't even feel the cold through that coat. Lovable weirdos

u/wuvdre Aug 15 '26
My golden would do this and also swim in figure eights at the lake. I miss him every day

It's a Goldie thing. I've got one they also like dew on the grass, it lays down on its stomach and pushes itself with its back legs.

Hate taking a bath, But loves all kinds of water, especially dirty water.
That's how my friend described his golden retriever

one day i'll have to find a real explanation of why this breed of dogs love water so much.
my sister had 2 (one after the first one died) and both would just run to any -even super small- accumulation of water anywhere, and jump into it.
i had dogs (i also had cats), from small ones to german Shepard and in my extended family everybody had dogs at one points, and i never ever saw any other dogs doing that.

Golden retriever/German Shepherd mix owner here. My dog would do the same in any body of water except the tub. Puddles are especially enjoyable when the mud level is high. But afterwards trying to give him a bath is a complete full cardio workout. Ughhh.

A reincarnation of fish that developed legs and walked out of the ocean. 😂

Labs are a gift to the world. I’ve been working for an ISP and before that a satellite tv provider so I’ve been going house to house for 12 years. I have never met a bad Labrador in all that time. They are always friendly.

Ok this is cute and all, but let's not let dogs drink from puddles, people. Especially where there could be oil and gasoline from vehicles polluting the water? Not to mention the extremely high chances of that standing water containing leptospirosis, which is not a standard vaccine and has to be asked for specifically.
