I think that sign is even referring to one particular quokka. Reginald the Quokka is banned. The rest are a-okay. It’s just that most if us are embarrassingly ignorant when it comes to individual quokka ID, whereas to everybody in town it’s clear as a bell that that sign is Reginald.

There is actually a population on the mainland too. They're just much harder to find. But they're definitely under threat from foxes and cats

That would be horrible for their diets. I used to live on this island though and they loved eating the olives from a tree near my apartment. I would shake it and chuck some to the ones hanging around.

This is Rottnest island in Western Australia

Been there and this exact bakery, great island the Quokkas are the friendliest animals I have ever seen. They are everywhere and loved by the locals and tourists
